I don’t know why no one’s talking about this. Boost tokens were supposed to be tokens we give to people we want, appreciating their work. But I’m speechless, or at least I haven’t seen anyone mention it. Their giving has been limited. Five per year. I don’t know about you, but I have 14 followers who like their work and download 90% of their models. I personally feel like someone took away my right to appreciate the work of people I appreciate and didn’t even bother to let me know. That’s why I wonder why no one’s talking about this. It must be a huge blow to people. If you have 10,000 followers who appreciate your work, and suddenly Makerworld blocks them from appreciating you by blocking the boosts we were supposed to give to anyone we wanted? What’s the point of gaining followers and giving more if Makerworld is constantly changing the rules without informing us, to the detriment of people who dedicate their time and effort to achieving something. I’ve spoken with several major users, and they confirmed that the drop in Boost tokens is significant. I’m sitting on 8 boost tokens myself, and they’ll probably disappear. I don’t intend to just give them away because I have to. If I can’t give them to someone whose work I appreciate, then they have no value to me.
I can only agree with your post to be honest.
My designs, and the designs I print, are 99% in the tabletop rpg scene. With very active designers making about 2 models per week, it keeps my printer pretty busy by printing just the designers I follow.
Having a limit on how many times I can boost their designs really takes a lot of the fun away to show appreciation how they amaze my with every-single-high-quality-design- they post again and again.
I also have a feeling that tabletop rpg stuff (minatures, scenery, terrain, …) isn’t flagged as “complex” because it is often just one model on a plate.
But that tiny 32 mm model takes a lot of time to sculpt, and when you want to appreciate all the detail that was put into it, you just can’t.
I won’t let my boosts go to waste, but I’m pretty sure I will be out of creators by the end of the year I can boost, because the miniature community on Makerworld just isn’t that big (yet)…
You have a month of time to use any given boost. Don’t let them expire! There are far too many deserving people creating designs and offering them up here for free. Bambu gave you the boost to use, don’t pass up a chance to brighten someone’s day.
In a perfect world we wouldn’t need a limiter. Thanks to people trying to scam the point system on Makerworld, a limit was imposed. If you really want to show your thanks to a designer, look at their profile, find their website, send them a tip on whatever platform they use. Bambu’s boost program is a tiny fraction of how someone can support their favorite designers.

I’m not sure about the topic, but if we are talking about the 5 boost/year limit over a single designer, always been there to my knowledge (or at least, it was there before the last important change)
While I do agree with you that we should be able to boost more for our favorite creators, I don’t think it’s fair that Bambu has to pay for that. It would be nice if we could buy boosts so we can tip using our own money. Perhaps We could buy 40 boosts for $25 or something along those lines.

I was thinking that it doesn’t cost Bambu a whole dollar to give a boost. But if it’s not 1 for 1 then people will abuse it. They buy $1000 worth of boosts and give it to their other account and buy $1800 worth of filament.
So $20 for 20 boosts sounds good to me.
But why even make it that complicated. Just pop up a message that says…
> "You are out of boost tokens. Would you like to use 12 points from your balance instead?"
…and then technically, it’d be 15 points if you’re boosting an exclusive model. It’d be no different from using points in the Points Shop. That would still limit non-designers to the 50 points a month they can make from rating print profiles, but at least you don’t have to deal with real money transactions that way.
Not really… I was just talking about exchanging points for boosts… not saying to lift any of the boost limits per design or designer. So you are limited in terms of moving things around.
Of course, but let’s be honest, most of the boost traders have like 5 models, and thats it. If a designer has 100+ designs with all 4 stars or higher, there is no way that its boost trading. It should be a pretty simple algorithm
There are a lot of topics that point to a better system to vet new users. That would eliminate the obvious, then the moderators (where are they?) could weed out the abusers from there. It doesn’t make any sense to allow just anyone (anything?) to join and abuse the system.
It isn’t a big deal to vet users. Countless forums (fora?) do it all the time, and they still make money. Surprise!
A different opinion can be that it’s beneficial for boost traders to have many models so the boosts can be distributed among them to avoid a few getting too many and attract attention.
Having good rating does not exclude any account from engaging in boost trading. Both can be true.
Boost tokens are awarded to you for actively printing stuff from maker world. You are suppose to use them to ‘boost’ models you enjoy. The boost is a tip to the designer, and it cost you nothing. Please don’t let them expire.
