Brand new bambu lab A2L

Hi all,

I don’t post here often as I usually figure things out but this one has me stumped.

I took delivery of a brand new A2L yesterday and I’m having nothing but issues with it. I have ran a print three times now, one I have ran in my P1S, X2D, Snapmaker U1 and even my old creality ender 3.

The three prints have repeatedly failed due to supports being knocked over, the last time I was in the room and I heard the crack of them being knocked down which tells me there is no adhesion issues.

I’ve been having a read and I’m seeing adust this and that but my issue with that is I haven’t had to adjust anyung on my other printers, they have all printed this successfully and a couple of the printers, more than once.

Anyone any ideas of what could be causing this as it’s mind numbing… I am now into a wasted 27hrs in total and nearly a full roll of filament wasted.

Any advice would be appreciated here :+1:t2:

Can you post your 3mf file for the print please?

Have you run all of the setup and calibration utilities for your printer already?

Hi, thanks for the reply… I can try and post it but I’m new to posting here so I’ll give it a try.

I have ran all the calibration etc, twice now

I imagine it might be due to incorrect settings, such as infill. It would be best if you could post a few photos and, ideally, the 3MF file as well.

If the printer is new, you might also want to check the screws on the nozzle mount, as well as the belt tension. They might have come loose during shipping.

But to start with, it’s best to post some photos and the 3MF file. By the way, you can just drag the file into the comment field.

Sorry says the file is to large for cloud uplad

If that doesn’t work, you can try uploading the file somewhere else, like Google Drive.

Just to ask in advance: Which infill do you use?

I have tried a few infills now, the one i have been using for these prints in support cubic and as i said, its always printed perfectly. I have now tried gyroid, rectilinear and also cubic.

I will try google drive but im honeslty brutal with computers lol

Read this: There are some infills that intersect, causing them to repeatedly collide with the 3D object and resulting in it being knocked over. That might be the case for you.

For example, Gyroid does not cross itself and is therefore ideal for preventing knockovers.

That said, other points are also important, but we’d need more information on them:

  • What does the 3D model look like?
  • What are your settings?
  • Have you cleaned your printer plate?
  • …

But I’ll wait for the 3mf file - it often reveals the most - and maybe some photos.

The 3D model is attachment i make for my sister, they fir in the centre of a wreath, the one in qestion is a model of scrooge. Settings, excuse the noob response but which settings are you referring too? build plate has been cleaned as i do with the other printers. When i remove the failed print its pretty well on there and i heard the crack from the support being broken.

I did read about infill choice having an effect on support stability but again i have used the same infill on this model at least a dozen times over the P1S, X2D, U1 and my old creality (which its printing in just now actually) so im thinking its not an infill issue. I bought the A2L as i wanted to make the prints a bit larger.

This is the print

Im not having any luck with google drive, sorry

I’d really like to help you, but without knowing what settings you’re using - or at least seeing a picture of the error - it’s almost impossible. If this happens again, please take several photos right away.

Without seeing the error, or the settings, or anything at all, it’s going to be really hard - it’s just a matter of guessing.

All I can offer as general advice - which I’ve already written - is: If the printer is new, you might also want to check the screws on the nozzle mount, as well as the belt tension. They might have come loose during shipping.

Hi, I’ve managed to get some photos as it did happen again but I decided to let it run. The print did finish but it’s very rough indeed. I decided out of curiosity to run the same file again on the old creality (which has printed it twice already) and had no issues apart from a poor print due to the machines age I’m gathering.

Not sure how much help that is but it’s the best I could show. I’m now currently printing a section of the file on the U1 just as a test but again the U1 is looking flawless

Looks like some sort of retraction or overextrusion problem – Little hersheys kisses wherever those occur.

Done flow rate calc?
Default profiles or something you customized?

As for your inconsistencies, I think I would go to the 0.2mm and maybe slow down or even speed up to see what works better. I honestly like going Ludicrous speed. Seems to whip my prints right into shape.

I’m not one to fiddle and twiddle with my printer’s intelligence much. But I’ve found happiness with the print head and speed settings. Sometimes simple does it.

Hi, I’ve done flow calibration etc and I’ve tried my own profiles and also generic and bambu. Still getting the same result :man_shrugging:t2:

Just annoying every other printer I own has printed this file with no issues yet a brand new machine is giving me so much hassle.

I have now raised a ticket but bambu support are dreadful I think for their response times

Every time I go into Best Buy I drool over an A2L they have on the shelf. But reality is I have a newer P2S and can’t enjoy the deeper nuances it offers yet. Shucks I’m barely over 955 hours with it. So can’t see me doing anymore than drooling in the isle at Best Buy.

I do a lot of trying this, and trying that, just simple basic changes without cracking Gcode or any deep stuff. I just want to have fun. So I look at this from a second childhoods eyes.

I’m about to finish a pickelball of TPU and it looks like this one might succeed. I just hope it doesn’t get broken right away. It is finishing the last few layers at “Silent” (50% speed). So far, so good.

I like the challenge this gives me. When something doesn’t print right, I try it just slightly changed. If it doesn’t a second time I blame the model was written for a different machine and go find the same thing improved by someone else, if not the same builder. I usually succeed that way.

Have you had success using a different file on your new machine? Maybe the A2L just doesn’t like the file. I like to find success, then tinker.

Anyway, I’m drooling again. Hope you find nirvana with your new A2L. Best wishes!

Edit in: I have a ball! It is finishing up in a way that doesn’t make me want to throw it away. And it bounces when dropped on the tile floor. Success!
