Just out of the box and no print yet, I did the calibration and the firmwares upgrade. Now there is a message stating that the Threaded Rods need lubrication. I have had 4 P1S in the past and didn’t need this. Is this correct? do I need to lube the threaded rods on a brand new out of the box H2D?

Can’t speak for the H2D, but I had the some with my X1C. Did it, been doing it again about every 500h or so to the current 5000h. So nothing to be overly concerned about at this stage. Just make sure all transport protections are removed and you run the self-test and printer calibration.

If Im remembering correctly, there was a firmware update that added the functionality of reminding about the lubrications. Since it did not have the time counter before the update, it immediately gives you the notice after you update to be on the safe side.

That would make sense, I just did a firmware upgrade. The rods seem fine. maybe clear the counter or should I lubricate them first, that is the question.
If its brand new, its safe to say you can skip it as its time/hours used based.

With it so new, it’ll only be a very light pain in the ass, simple wipedown + reapply. Don’t need to go ham getting junk in the recesses when there is no junk in the recesses yet.

I did not do that when I got my H2D. Like you said, update it, then calibrate it.
How do you get rid of the notice?

I just went into the maint menu and told it that I greased the rods.

Are you sure you took out all the foam pads from inside when unboxing? Even the tiny ones?

It’s completely normal, because Bambu decided to make it a calendar event, and afaik it’s global, so basically it would prompt such a message for everyone unless you’ve manually done a lubrication and clicked that button in the machine menu first…
Which is stupid, but you can just dismiss it or say that you’ve done it already. This would reset the calendar for you and then the next prompt would happen 90days later.
The same has happened on all other bambu machines too.
Except for some of us it’s not, which is more the problem. I literally did it two days ago, and it’s prompting me for it again.

What is the maint menu? I can’t seem to find that anywhere and don’t see how to clear this
Go to the touch screen and go to to settings icon. Looks like a hex nut / Toolbox
