[Broken Again] MakerWorld Uploads for models & profiles are SLOOOOOW

@MakerWorld @Tanklet

Do you know the uploads of both models and profiles are back to running really slowly again?

I noticed it yesterday, today much worse.

I uploaded the model related to the first profiles at 19:05, it took 20 minutes to process before I could start uploading any profiles.

The same thing happened for the second model before I could start uploading its profiles.

They are still queued right now at 19:45, 40 minutes after I began.

This process normally takes around 5 minutes for a model and 7 profiles.

Feature request

While here, can you add the profile name to the Verifying tab?

It is difficult to determine which profile is which when you also show the generic model image rather than the supplied profile photo.

Update

Another 10 minutes have passed and there are still profiles in the verify queue.

Update 2

After more than an hour, I have given up for today.

MW - Can you please tell us why it is going slow, are we returning to the old problem from a few months ago?

Update 3
It is back to very slow again, I am almost up to 30 minutes for a model update which is still stuck in the verifying queue.

@makerworld Can we get a permanent solution that lasts more than a week, please?

An hour later, and they are still not up and verified.

It was the same yesterday. I had a day of actually uploading & finishing models for the first time in a while and noticed it taking ages.
I’m going to just say all the new users uploading the mad amount of new models would be the cause.

I am deleting my models and profiles as I have missed my preferred launch window.

I was putting a third model up today as well. I will have to reschedule that also.

A few days ago, my print profile was still pending after 4 hours, so I revoked the submission and tried again.
This time, it went online successfully after only 5 minutes. I’m not saying this is the solution to your problem, but it worked for me.

I have done the same during slowdowns, it didn’t work during the massive slowdown.

I tried it earlier, but it didn’t work today either.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Same here, verification took ages.

I had the same thing happen this week. I canceled it and submitted again and it worked the 2nd time.

We will check this issue.

Do you find a big difference if you miss that upload window in terms or viability of your stuff ? What is your preferred window? Curious as I didn’t think that have much effect

I can’t imagine it really makes any difference, the platform is 24 hour and its not like the downloads are only live for a day so people who were going to find them will still find them just fine

I believe Malc has already uploaded so many models that he certainly sees some pattern. I’ve only added a few and I already think I can draw some general conclusions.

Yeah I was wondering the same last night :stuck_out_tongue: took an hour then it was good but
models and the print profiles was uploaded at same time as well

I had that issue a few days back, it took probably an hour to get posted.

I have found that 4pm to 6pm is the best window GMT & UTC.

If it launches later than that I will have usually lost the initial momentum gained had I of made that slot.

For me, ill-health dictates what I can and can’t do at anyone time and I only have finite time to do things before I run out of energy.

When the delays of the system fails me, it locks me out altogether. Two competing issues do nit make for a successful launch.

I launched the first of two models in a three model set on Thursday & Friday, both days took far longer than they should pushing me out of the window.

Those models are in low double digits.

The three previous sets were well into the three digits by the same time and a week later the most popular had passed 500.

I doubt this set now will get anywhere near those numbers.

I have just been trying again.

As I mentioned ill-health dictates my schedule.

I started just after 18:00.

It is now 18:44 and whilst the model uploaded after exactly 10 minutes, 4 of the 7 profiles are still stuck.

I upload the profiles in order.

  1. Edges [AMS] - with Model
  2. Triple [AMS]
  3. Dual [AMS]
  4. Single
  5. Edges [PAUSE]
  6. Triple [PAUSE]
  7. Dual [PAUSE]

The ones in bold have been verified, clearly out of order.

Finally uploaded.

It took around 55 minutes to upload one model with a profile and 6 further profiles to verify all of them.

FAR TOO LONG.

Same.

When I wrote large-scale systems, I added performance triggers so management knew there were issues to resolve.

Other models

I had two others to launch on Saturday.

I pushed the first one to today, I will have to delay the other two until tomorrow, possibly Monday and Tuesday at this rate.

Thanks for the reply! That’s interesting maybe I’ll start having a play with the release time. I just get to excited when I’m done to post it…

I have so many models finished and awaiting artwork that I have a long lead of already created models.

I have to balance health with desire.

I uploaded four models daily for a while, but recently, my health has nosedived and I have slowed down.

People clammer for the Fidget Spinners & Gyros, so I try to prioritise those each week.

I have several new categories of models I want to upload, some one-offs that are far outside my normal fodder.

There are good days and bad, those depend on the model category.

If you nail it, you can ride the model to the top of the weekly trending page, which drives many downloads and attention. Miss it and you have no chance.

I recommend you experiment, and perform some A/B tests to refine when yours are best timed. Try one day and note the time, next time, try a different time and see what the results are for each after a week.

I just wanted to pile on here and say that I’m seeing this as well. I’ve been waiting some time for a model to upload that I’m hoping to submit to one of the contests ending in about a little under 2 hours. Fingers crossed!!

(Editing to note that it did complete and the second profile I added was significantly faster)
