got a little question… my build plate keeps hovering up and down ever so slighty while printing.
The Y shafts keep turning left and right just a few degrees -is it for compensating a build plate that is not absolutely horizontal? If so, is it a problem or just normal? Should I do something?
Hi, this is normal (for small movements, and assuming you’re not seeing any other major issues which random movement would cause). The printer has to retract the nozzle slightly while printing, for things like moves and such. The only way to do that is to adjust the bed height, since the actual printing head doesn’t move in the up/down (Z) direction itself. Watching it over the slow CMOS camera link exacerbates the effect due to the “jello” effect of the sensor and the network latency in sending the images.
