Just got my X1C a few days ago, and I was experiencing exactly what you described. I could view the live feed over cellular, but not when I connected my iPhone to the same subnet as my X1C. My solution was simple–create a separate network on my router for the X1C to live.
Can you try to verify something?
On your X1C: Which should get ~30fps on the video, do you still get a full/smooth 30fps when accessing the camera via a separate subnet?
The P1S: which is meant to provide 1 frame per 2 seconds, seems to update at half the rate: showing ~2 stuttered frames, pushed at 4 second intervals.
It’d be interesting to see if your X1C also seems stuttery/jittery: pushing the 30 frames, but in a set of 15 ‘pairs’.
When using Wi-Fi from a different subnet, I do get extremely smooth, full video. I wouldn’t doubt that it’s a full 30 fps. Over cellular service, I looks equally as smooth, except for an occasional skipped frame or two. I wouldn’t describe my live camera view as having any stutter or jitter whatsoever. It’s very good.
I had this problem on my iPhone 15 till I found out that I either have to turn off my phones WIFI connection or allow the Bambu Handy app to access Local Network.
I was able to ‘Fix’ my issue: unable to connect to the live-feed with both my computer and iPhone.
Here’s what worked for me:
- Log out of Bambu Handy, then Delete the App.
- Log out of Bambu Studio, then Delete the App.
- On my printer, I used the SD card (Re)-Format option: letting it clear everything saved on the SD card I use.
- Power the printer off, then on.
- After the printer reboots, Do a Factory Reset: via the printer’s menu options.
- Wait for the full reset to occur.
- Follow the ‘initialization/setup’ process: until you get to the QR/Wifi Connection step.
- Make sure there are no VPNs currently used by your phone.
- Download the Iphone Bambu Handy App.
- (I don’t think you can log-in immediately) Follow the in-app prompts to connect/pair to the printer: via bluetooth, by scanning the QR code that is displayed on the Printer screen.
- Scan the QR code and let the printer seek out Wifi Networks. { I chose to allow the printer additional access: to scan for other Wifi Connected Devices … Which might(?) be of necessity}
- Once the Printer shows that it’s connected to Wifi, Then Log into your account: On the Bambu Handy App.
- IIRC, the printer should show that you’re logged into your account.
- Open the App and start watching the Video feed: keep it running.
- Download the Bambu Studio App on your PC. Let it Install fully: following the prompts that show.
- Log into your account: within Bambu Studio, before anything else.
- If there are any prompts [Which would appear in the Bottom Right of the screen]: showing “new configs are available to update”, then click on them and install/update things.
- You should be able to look at the devices tab, and the printer should now show up.
- Now that you’re connected to the printer: via the Studio app, press the ‘play’ button to start the Video feed, on the PC.
This is where I was able to have both feeds showing: on PC and on iPhone.
I use the 1Blocker app on my iPhone: to block ads, cookies, trackers, etc. It uses a VPN as part of its operation. It was at this point that I went and enabled the 1Blocker features (Thus turning on its VPN): which didn’t cause any issues with iPhone playback.
So, That’s what worked for me. Hopefully this will help other fix the same issue.
It’s a mild ‘pain’; but, overall, it’s not all that much effort: compared to the benefit you get from being able to see the Video feed from the Handy app, without getting the multiple-device playback error.
Let me know if that helps you guys resolve your troubles.
Same here. 8/10 times I get “streaming function error”
Allow “the local network” in your bambu handy app in iphone works for me
i had a similar issue but it was fixed once i updated my printer
Same here. 8/10 times I get “streaming function error”
Yep, been getting this for about a month. All updates done, still having issues.
Had same issue.
Go to ios Settings, bambu app
Changed → local network from „off“ to on
So it will run again
that’s a livesaver - thank you
We just discovered that the camera did not work while a job is running when you setup Bambu Studio. You may need to begin a new job to enable the camera at the beginning of the job. Also when we did this we were prompted for a firmware update. The combination of a fresh job and firmware update appears to have fixed the issue.
This is the definitive answer to this. Go into general settings in IOS, search for Bambu, turn on access to local network. Turn off Bambu’s access to Camera as I can’t think of a reason why Bambu needs access to your phones camera.
My case:
The camera feed doesn’t work on the Bambu Handy only. It is a frequent issue since the beginning but after a lot of troubleshooting, I usually managed to get back to work. But this time I have tried everything with no luck. The printer immediately connects and display the work in progress but the camera feed doesn’t connect. It works fine in bambu studio.
The printer has a fixed IP on the network. I have logged out of the account and uninstalled the app. Install the app from scratch. Logged back in, and bound the printer and the issue remains.
Solution:
- Close the app completely (quit).
- Disconnect from the network.
- Open the app and try to load the camera feed over cellular data. It should work.
- Quit the app again and reconnect to the network. This time, it will ask for permission to connect to the local network if it hasn’t asked before.
The camera feed should now work over the network.
The camera app should be called Daisy. Some days he works, some days he don’t.
I htink it’s called Handy as a pun on being handy (helpful or “at hand”) and “handphone” being what we in here in English-speaking Asia call a mobile phone or cellphone.
woah this worked perfectly! thank you
This worked for me as well, thank you! I got the iOS network discovery prompt after flipping my iPhone to cellular, connecting to printer, then flipping back to WiFi, and now ‘just works’. Also fixed my iPad by tethering to iPhone to get the cellular connection.
