Can filament sync when choosing a printer be automated?

I just looked and nobody seems to want to answer this question which has been asked multiple times. Please help if you can.

I have two BBL printers, an A1 and A1 Mini. If I open a 3mf from the site, and the printer is different (even though I selected the one I wanted) I have to allow the slicer to change printers, then make sure the printer I want is selected in two places, AND THEN choose to sync filament.

Is there a way to get the slicer to simply sync when the selection of printer is made? How easy could that be.

Help please.

Not sure what this means

Orcaslicer 2.3.1:

  • I open some random guys 3mf, it has whatever their printer and design filaments were in it
  • I select my printer, top left.
  • I select my filament selections that I want to use for their 3mf’s color assignments, right below the printer assignment, on the top left.
  • Ready to go

First, I’m using Bambu Studio.
When I open a 3mf from Maker World, it will present the project and usually it has some printer other than the one I selected on the site… A1 Mini for example.
Then it asks if I want to change to the ‘current’ printer (which is the one it found access to on my network).
I click ‘change’ and then the project shows up with the filaments from the original (wrong) printer and I have to first… make sure Bambu Studio has the proper printer on the ‘device’ tab and then ask it to sync the filaments.
All that mess seems unnecessary. I have a connected A1 Mini and the ‘system’ knows what filaments it has.

It doesn’t know how you want to merge the 3mf author’s filament selections into your filament selections. I think thats a normal step to take…

I think maybe youre finding a need for a user mode that pre-assumes you only have one printer, to remove a lot of the [very normal] steps you need to take when you push jobs from a single project to multiple printers

The filaments listed in the print profile are independent from what is loaded on your printer. You can map one to the next, but they are still independent variables.
