Ever since the changes to the makerworld point system, I feel I’ve been getting less and less points. Also I feel the site on a downward spiral with all the AI models and that actually good models are getting flooded out. So I was wondering if I could take my models out of the exclusive program and add them to somewhere like Printables. I looked at the rules, but didn’t find anything against it, but wanted to make sure before I lose some serious amount of points for “violations.“ Any thoughts?
You can take them out anytime. (After 90 days)
Not anytime, there is a 90 days lock which you agree too when submitting (or a 14 day one depending on the choice) but after that yes, just edit the model and remove the exclusive option
You can take them out anytime, after 90 days.
edit: oh, hello h3li0. You beat me by a minute. ![]()
Btw. the 14-Day Exclusive Launch Model falls back automatically after 14 days.
Ok! That clears up the questions I had. Maybe I’ll take out some of my older models and use them to try and get more traffic to my Makerworld account.
That’s an interesting idea.
Presumably if a model is attractive then it should be on MW to earn points because nowhere else can earn as much. If a model is not attractive and gets no points on MW then putting it somewhere else probably won’t drive traffic to MW.
However, things open work differently from assumption. Let us know in a few months how it goes -sharing some numbers will be great.
I was thinking of putting some models that didn’t do so well on makerworld, but I personally think are pretty cool. Basically giving them a second chance to do well.
My experience has been that how users think of my models is often different from what I think of them. Some other designers have said the same.
Well I figure there’s nothing to lose. They aren’t making me many points anyway.
The only way to know is to try. Like I said earlier, try and share with us in a few months if you can.
I believe I read it before that some said their models got more downloads on other bigger platforms. But that could be due to bigger audience size. These downloads on other platforms didn’t result in rewards.
