Can I upload a design with a link to a Generator I made?

I designed a drying mat that you can use to set wet glasses or dishes on to let them dry. I saw a design on makerworld and then customized it to the exact size I needed. I then worked to create a Generator for it so anyone can put in the size they want and it will create custom STL files for them. If I upload the design on MW and include some predefined sizes as examples, can I include a link to the generator so people can use it to play around with the options?

I don’t know if there are rules about links to other websites or anything like that and didn’t want to take the time to make a post about it only to have it taken down.

Thanks.

I’m not sure. Is the model of the generator yours or the one of the original model? If so, I would talk to the creator and see what you can do. If it is your model, of course you can upload it directly.

It was based on a design I saw but then customized. I just didn’t know if links to 3rd party websites were allowed since that’s where the generator lives. It doesn’t use a model as a starting point. It creates everything from scratch once you put in your dimensions.

I guess I’ll just upload it and see if anyone complains.

If you modified their files to make your version, you count as a remix.

If you printed one, measured it, and made a different one yourself, you can most probably upload independently.

However since you yourself are in doubt, I would recommend uploading as a remix,

You might even get more traffic as a remix than an original, if the original is popular.
