Is it possible to use wd-40 to lube the z-y linear rods on the p1s???
As the manual says I do use WD-40 to lube the rails of mt H2D (and food grease for the screws)
I still use bb oil for the printhead rail at moment
Lots of people are saying to use Super Lube 52004 Synthetic Lightweight Oil (ISO 68), Translucent but its 30 bucks for a bottle
I have the bad habit to read and follow the manufacturerâs instructions ![]()
WD-40 evaporates after a short period of time. I use 0-20W synthetic motor oil. It only takes a drop or two for each rail. I keep it on hand to top off the cars.

Iâve always heard that WD-40 isnât really much of a lubricant for the long term. Best find some sort of real light mineral or synthetic oil like sewing machine oil. If nothing else, buy more of what Bambu sells.

Please note that this has been discussed many times before and often leads to misunderstandings. Therefore, just a quick reminder:
WD-40 is the name of the company. The important thing is what comes after WD-40, i.e. the product name.
There is WD-40 ⌠that damages the printer, and there is WD-40 ⌠that is beneficial for the printer. Why am I writing ⌠now? Because the remarkable thing is that it has different names in different countries. It would be pointless to mention a product name, as it varies from place to place.
So be careful when someone says, âYou can use WD-40 for your printer!â or âWD-40 isnât a lubricant, itâs useless!" - Both are right, because WD-40 is just the company name and you have to look at the product itself.
You need WD-40 for lubrication, not WD-40 for removing grease, which would be fatal for the printer.

The oil⌠the little plastic tube that came with the printer (not the sachet of grease). Bambu sells a pack of 6 tubes for $5.99⌠maybe a bit expensive for what it is but at least you are assured that it is the proper stuff for the application.
That is correct. But that name is derived from a single product where the name comes from âWater Displacement, 40th formulaâ. So thatâs, when people say âI use WD-40â they usually donât mean all the ânewâ fancy stuff but rather they are talking about the (now called) âmulti-use productâ or in some markets itâs âWD-40 Classicâ.
And this stuff has a different formula in different markets (like US one is different to the European one), which is bad enough to give consistent results and additionally that product was - as that name says - developed as penetrating oil which is in my opinion not what a printer requires.
So, anyway, I got a few bottles of WD-40 at home (âClassicâ in Europe) which I use for several things but Iâd never even consider it to lubricate anything with it.
The problem is that everything is now called âWD-40â. You always have to assume that people donât know which product they need: they go to the supermarket, see WD-40 and grab it without paying attention to the name, so they end up with the wrong one.
If you search Bambu Reddit or even here in the forum, youâll find enough material to fill entire books. It would have been better if they had left the original WD-40 and simply labeled all subsequent ones with a number, e.g., WD-41. Then it would not be a problem to discuss it internationally, because you would just mention a number.

My personal opinion? Donât use WD-40 at all, there are much better products out there, but that wasnât the OPâs question.

The number of people who speak based on hearsay and randomly is alarming.
Meanwhile, a bit of history: WD40 is exactly the name of the original product; the entire range that stemmed from it and took its name/brand doesnât even exist to me. they are just copycats of already existing good products made by other brands.
So, itâs a lubricant, resistant up to 180° and thatâs why itâs used to polish the motorcycle engine block and make it nice and shiny (and it makes it water-repellent)

I use it for the H2D rails and printing asa and when I do the full maintenance the rails are perfectly lubed (it doesnât evaporate like someone said

Lubricating Oil, is typically used for the lubrication of linear guides, slide rails, and steel shafts.
Lubricant Grease, on the other hand, is used to lubricate lead screws or to reduce noise between belts and idle pulleys.

so use lubricant grease for the lead screws, and lubricant oil for the linear rods
