Two days ago, I tried to send a message to a user to warn them that their model had been stolen and reposted on another website. I managed to send a short note, but when I attempted to follow up with more detailed information, I received this message from MW:
“You may only send one text message until the user replies. Messaging will resume after their response.”
Has anyone else noticed this new restriction? It really limits communication. What’s the point of having chat if we can’t properly reach out to people? I’ve never spammed anyone—I only thank users for boosts or ratings, and I’ve never promoted my models aggressively. Chat has always been a great feature for engagement and collaboration, but this change feels very restrictive.
Does anyone know where we can request MW to reconsider or adjust this policy?
or make it so you can send more than one message. I understand that this is a way to cut down on unsolicited messages, but there are points where it gets very annoying.
Do not remove the restriction, just relax it a little bit.
Took me 3 days to send someone a step file because because of this restriction.
This issue can be addressed on many levels—encouraging collaboration while still ensuring that spam is effectively blocked.
Rate limiting for new users
If there has been no prior interaction (chat, boost, rating) and a user starts chats with more than, for example, 5 different users in 30 minutes, temporarily limit their ability to chat—if AI detects marketing spam.
Reward positive engagement
If a user has given a boost or rating, allow them to chat freely. Encourage interaction—it’s clear they value the creator’s work. These conversations shouldn’t be blocked as they currently are.
Content-aware moderation
Use AI to analyze chat content and block only if the message is truly marketing spam.
False positives need improvement
For example, I once sent a link to a user showing where their model was being pirated, and AI flagged it as advertising. I was trying to help protect creators, but the AI misinterpreted the intent.
Clarity of purpose
If the goal is to prevent people from chatting altogether, then remove chat entirely. It’s your platform—you can set the rules.
Community building
Restricting chat too heavily may harm community growth. Building connections requires some openness.
This restriction is utterly ridiculous and actively prevents people from effectively engaging with creators.
If you’re typing a message and accidentally hit enter before its complete, you can’t follow up with the rest of it in a second message. This would maybe be fine if using the delete or recall function then unlocked the ability to send again, but it doesn’t. This means if I make a mistake while sending a message and that user never replies to me, I can never message them again.
It also prevents the ability to follow up with someone that you’ve messaged. If I send someone a message and a week goes by without a response, the ability to send a follow up message is important.
Please Bambu, I understand that this is an anti-spam/anti-bot measure. But for the love of my sanity, please remove or reduce this restriction.
