Can they make a smaller cheaper alternative of the H2C?

I am currently wanting to buy the H2C, but its kind of expensive. I wish that there was a smaller version because i have no problem with the 256mm build volume. I’m thinking they should make printer with all the same features like ai detection and air vents, but have a build like the X1c. So size of an X1C, but inside all the good features including a vortek system and laser engraver.

You should wait then, not saying the x2c will have vortek system, but wouldn’t rule it out either

Just wait until 2026—then they’ll totally outdo all the H2C owners with a shiny “new” flagship. After that, nothing else will matter except their latest and greatest marvel! But don’t blink, because in less than five months, that new flagship will also be considered ancient and unloved. The circle of life in 3D printing moves fast!

That’s pretty true, I mean when they released the H2D, it was the best thing ever, until a couple months later when the H2S came out, then the H2D pro, then the P2S and now the H2C. I really didn’t expect 5 new printers in one year!

You’re absolutely right – and that’s exactly the problem. When a company keeps chasing new models instead of properly supporting the machines it already sold, it wastes a lot of the real technical lifetime that is still left in those printers.​

There are still many promises around the H2D that have not been fulfilled, while at the same time they quietly pull the X1 Carbon from production but keep the P1S, which makes the whole product strategy look incoherent at best. It does not feel like there is a clear long‑term plan for how to maintain and evolve existing products in a sensible way, which is a shame given how strong the hardware and engineering teams clearly are.​​

In the long run, this approach will not work forever. Existing users will not keep buying a new “flagship” every few months just because it is shiny and new. At some point, people do the same thing many of us did with phones: we stop upgrading for the hype and only change device when there is a solid technical and economic reason to do so.

Yeah, for like a year or two they didn’t release any new printers, but it would be a good strategy to release these 5 printers, over 5 years, this would build suspense, while giving them more time to work on the printers, though I am happy I do not have to wait long for a good tool changer printer. I know the prusa XL and snap maker are out there, but I kind of ONLY trust bambu’s products. I would get the prusa XL, but its more expensive, also lots of the parts are 3d printed, which I find pretty cheap and bad compared to the metal parts bambu gives.

You mean it is a bad thing to be able to print spare parts yourself, or to avoid having to dismantle the entire printer just to replace consumable parts that are likely to fail within a few months?​

In that case, I also trust Bambu Lab, but I no longer trust them the way I used to. They have pushed my loyalty too far, and today that trust is largely gone.

I still wish prusa would make the printers with injection molded plastic and just publish a cad file for if you need a replacement part.

I totally understand the big advantage of being able to print and fix your printer at home, but also Im the type of person who does not trust using plastic for holding things like these together, but I totally under stand your point! I would definitely consider a prusa, if they gave an option for metal parts instead of plastic, like an option where you pay more, but get metal parts, or the other option for the customizable 3d printed parts.

Smaller printer with same capabilities won’t be significantly cheaper. You still need to have all the components and a lot of head scratching how to cram it all into smaller chassis

Something tells me the X2 will have a C variation. There’s a pretty big pricing gap between the P2S and H2S waiting to be filled.

Is the P2S better than the X1C? I mean looking at its stats it seems better, also I cant believe how cheap it is compared to the X1C, its almost 300$ cheaper! I mean the price for a better printer, its a steal!

That would actually be great. Instead of having that 7 color printing, just have 6 color ,by taking out that extra nozzle on the side that doesn’t switch out with the alternating 2 nozzles, just have one nozzle that can be switched out using the vortek. And to be fair, the dual nozzle head kind of looks weird. And if they realse a new type of x series, its definitely going to be called the X2C, based off what they did to the upgraded P1S, (P2S).

also what if they made a new printer that is like the h2C but instead of having just one nozzle switch out, have both nozzles connected to the vortek system, that way you could do up to 12 colors (6 on each side), without wasting filament.

The evolution of 3D Printers was pretty fast the last few years. I saw an interview at formnext where Bambu said “there is only one printer left for an upgrade” and “this printer is important because it started with it”. So the X2C is confirmed and I also think that we see a Vortek in there. Maybe with only 4 nozzles instead of 6.
Because what else would you upgrade on the X1C? The P2S is already better than the X1C…

H2C is way to expensive and yes the printer without vortek produce a lot of waste but as I said before, you can buy a lot of filament for the price of the H2C.
Let´s see what next year brings and there is always a black friday sale next year :joy:

There’s one feature that only the X1 has, lidar. This feature allows a user to completely calibrate a filaments flow (flow RATE and flow Dynamics. yes there’s two) in 20-30 minutes where as this process takes between 45 minutes to an hour on all other printers because they have to do flow rate calibrations manually. Myself personally, I value this feature. It’s been dead on accurate and reliable while saving me tons of time with filament calibrations. They kept the tab on the right side of the heated in the P2S, so I suspect the x2 will retain its lidar to separate it from the rest of the pack.

I would actually love if if they intergraded at least a 4 color vortek system into the X2C. I’m pretty sure it would the same amount as an H2C combo (1500$). Its definitely a preferred option compared to the H2C for me. For me I’m talking price and size wise. I don’t need big build volumes, also i do not need 7 color printing, 4 is just enough. So I really hope they try something like this, because I am really hesitant about spending 2500$ on a 3d printer! :grimacing:

How about this from Prusa with 8 Bondtech’s INDX hotends

Would be interesting to see what will be released first a ready to ship 10INDX on a prusa with a bed the size of a h2c or a smaller bambu with vortek… in my mind its 50/50 somewhere middle of 2026.
