I have an H2C with the Panda Perch. I have 2 AMS 2 Pros on top and 2 AMS Ht’s hanging on the left side racks. When I connected the 2 AMS HT’s they were assigned A for the top HT and B for the bottom HT which was fine. I just added 2 more AMS ht’s to the right side racks. Since A&B were assigned to the left side Ht’s I though C&D would be assigned to the 2 HT I added to the right side. After connecting the 2 new HT’s and powering on the printer it reassigned the letters. It assigned D on the top left, B on the bottom left, C on the top right and A on the bottom right. Is there any way to manually assign the positions to put them in order? Like you can manually assign the nozzles?
There’s an option under Settings > AMS Options > Arrange. Basically you’ll reset the current assignments and then connect them in the order you desire.
I haven’t played with it but I’m guessing you’ll reset, disconnect, and then reconnect them. Not as plug and play as assigning the nozzles but if the order you want is important to you then you should be able to using this.
Great, Thank you for your Help. I found that menu. After I hit arrange it didn’t seem to do anything. I though I would get a menu with a reset option and instructions. Can you unplug and reconnect AMS’s with the printer powered on or does the printer need to turned off? To be on the safe side I turned off the printer and disconnect both my AMS’s and the 4 HT’s. I reconnected the first AMS and turned the printer on. I was assigned A. Then I turned off the printer again and connected the second AMS and turned it on and it was assigned B. I did this for each AMS I connected. But when I connected the first HT it assigned it D, not A like I though. Since each AMS HT was assigned a random letter I accomplished what I wanted to do by physically moved that AMS HT’s to the positions I wanted them to be in the rack depending on the letter it was assigned. Thank again for taking the time to reply.
.
It doesn’t assign the same letter more than once. You’ll only have one A, B, and so on so yeah you’ll need to live with D if it’s going to be the fourth AMS on your printer. I misunderstood what you were trying to do, sorry.
So once the AMS is assigned a letter it will always be that letter no matter if you unplug it move it to a different position?
No, you can change the letters, if you use the Arrange AMS Order to reset the current order, unplug them and then connect them in the order you want them to be arranged.
I suspect that when you reset them they all be reset. Not a big deal as long as you connect them to the printer in the order you want them to be.
Do you have to turn the printer off when connecting AMS’s or can you connect them with the power on?
I do it while the printer is powered on, I view the data cables the same as I would a usb cable for a PC.
Ok thank you for all your help. I’m new to 3D printing and I really appreciate it.
Just FYI. I asked Bambu labs tech support about connecting AMS’s. They told me to turn off the printer power before disconnecting or re-connecting any AMS unit.
