Can you recommend PA/Nylon filament (no fibers)?

Can you recommend nylon filament ? (easiest to print - warping is a main issue I guess? so less warping please :slight_smile: and some, like PA12 are less hygroscopic - so also easier to handle? )

black, no fibers - I want it more flexy.

I’ll use it with bambulab P1S, I can dry it in a drier (~70*C) or even an oven.

Over the past two years I’ve purchased several 50g PA6 nylon filament samples, and most were garbage, very hard to print and overpriced for a 1kg spool. If you can still find it, the one that stood out for ease of use was Sunlu Easy PA. I barely had to calibrate it; I think I just used the Bambu Lab PA6 profile and made minor tweaks.

I bought the older formula a few months ago on sale, but now I see it’s no longer stocked on Amazon. From their website, it looks like they may have exited the plain PA6 business, since all of their current PA6 options are now either -CF or -GF. You may still be able to find some stock floating around online. Either way, it was the only one I had used that wasn’t “fussy”.

what about PCTG ? I watched some YT videos and it looks quite similar (less brittle than PETG etc.)

any other filaments worth considering ?

I’ve used Polymaker CoPA just fine. It’s your usual warp-free-ish blend. It does require annealing if you want any reasonable mechanical properties, and of course at that point, there’s no guarantee of some slight warping. Printing wise it does fine.

I’ve just received Overture Easy Nylon it and did first print

flawless, even overhangs (on sides) look perfect

took the profile from Overture website and set retraction length to 1mm

What build plate did you use?

standard slightly textured PEI (stock from p1s) + paper glue in a stick and it was easy to remove it later. (in fact i forgot I bought BambuLap glue stick as well)

How does Overture Easy Nylon compare to Sunlu Easy PA?

I don’t know, that the only PA I’ve tried

Sunlu easyPA (PA6/66 Compound), cheap and easy to print.

My part was printed correctly (EasyNylon) - I printed a phone case for a test,

but warped and bent horrendously in a next few days… what to do ? how to stop it ?

The case was flat when I printed it and fitted a phone.

Did you anneal it? Temp definitely got to it over time, specifically when charging. Would be a very tough part to print and anneal, have it keep correct form without a negative helper piece or something. Maybe a different material.

no I didn’t. should I anneal pieces straight after the print ?

I’ve also used Sunlu Easy PA, and I generally like it. It’s really easy to print, even on an open printer (at least for small objects).

What I don’t like is that without annealing, it has low heat resistance, and when annealing, it often warps unpredictably.

Therefore, I unfortunately can’t use it for some of my planned applications.

Yes all nylon should be annealed for a few hours. Overall 2-4 hours.

Since it wasn’t annealed it was still holding tensed up energy and what little moisture was left.

I just printed some rather large models for my SUNLU A4 and I annealed them for a couple hours and they were drastically stronger and more reliable.
