it’s 3-4 days people in Italy cannot connect to cloud. This is limited to TIM internet provider and some other local minor providers. We needed to move to LAN mode.
I suspect DNS or NAT issues, but I cannot be sure.
My p1s Is connected to the internet via WiFi and internet connection isn’t lost during the issue. Download starts and get stuck at 0%. Issue is reported by all customers of the same ISP.
If it is a DNS issue, it is not Bambu’s problem. Complain to your internet provider.
While you are waiting for them to find the error, change the DNS server for your computer or router, or add secondary DNS addresses to be searched when the primary server fails.
Here are specific DNS provider addresses in Italy based on search results:
Smart DNS (Milan):95.141.39.236
Vodafone Italia S.p.A.:93.64.222.78
Brennercom S.p.A. (Soraga):
Connesi S.p.a. (Recanati):
Fastwebnet:93.45.244.86
Globally Available (Popular in Italy):
Cloudflare:1.1.1.1
Google:8.8.8.8
OpenDNS:208.67.222.222
Quad9:9.9.9.9
Some will be faster than others, depending on your location.
Their domestic router cannot be configured with different DNS so I cannot try and verify it’s DNS. Issue isn’t limited to 1 single ISP but it’s mostly reported by TIM customers.
Also I would argue Bambulab business is impacted by ISP and that is money loss for them.
A router from the ISP can limit your options, but the computer’s DNS settings can be changed to use addresses from servers other than the router or the ISP.
A search for “Windows how to add DNS server” (or your operating system) should provide instructions.
I’m actually trying again, I made an attempt time ago already. I now have home assistant with integration and I this is a replacement for Bambu handy. Bambu Studio bugs apart that can be solved by OrcaSlicer, I agree time is good enough for switching to LAN mode.
I have TIM and i have setted different DNS servers on my modem, and nothing changed.
For some reasons i can’t use LAN mode. The printer is detected, but it won’t connect -_-
I suspect this is more related to NAT on ISP side. BTW to enable LAN mode I suspect you need the Cloud, this is genius! I managed to do the switch by doing hotspot with mobile phone that has different ISP.
I agree with you with the procedure but for whatever reason I couldn’t establish connection to the printer over the LAN. I had to go through the Cloud with an hotspot and different ISP and then redo the LAN+Dev mode switch. Perhaps it’s been just coincidence but if people is having troubles doing the switch, maybe hotspot is worth a try.
My guess, educated but not supported by any evidence, is that TIM’s NAT is now preventing Cloud to contact the printers. I imagine they use STUN server and similar solutions but maybe TIM is now blocking that as well.
