Cant change Filament Color in AMS

I updated my P1S to the latest version today, and so did Bambu Studio. Since then, I can no longer customize the filament in the smartphone app. When I try to select the type and color and click save, it just says “Fail.” When I try the same thing in Bambu Studio in the “Device” tab—for example, changing the color—the program reverts to the old color after five seconds. It’s not Bambulab filament.

I’m in the exact same boat. Started this week I think. Tried a ton of things and nothing is working.

Hmm are either of you in Beta testing for either??? Try a support ticket: Sign In - Bambu lab

No, my software and firmware seems to have auto-updated.

P1S is version 1.007
Both AMS are 6.49

Try a support ticket to see what they have to say

I’m having the same issue. I am on Mac and have not updated the firmware or Bambu Studio on my Mac. I just updated to the latest Bambu Studio (2.00.01 or whatever) on my Windows machine and can now change the filament with one PS1 that has only one AMS.

On my other P1S with 2 AMS, I can’t change the filament at all on either Mac or Windows with latest or older Studio application. Same behavior as OP…it changes for 5 seconds then reverts back.

This broke with me changing nothing on my end. No firmware updates and still running the older Bambu Studio so it must be something with the cloud updates for the new printer and AMS2s causing the problem I would guess. Several people on reddit have also complained.

And in the Handy app, it just says “fail” when you try to change it.

Bambu, please fix this!

I have the exact same issue

Same here, I had this issue a couple of weeks ago, solved by it self. I did open a ticket that time, but did not really help.

Today its back the problem…

Started 3 days ago, same issue. Tried factory reset, just using 1 AMS (have 2), reinstalled app, and more … nothing helped.

Somewhere I read, downgrading (I would not like this at all) p1s helped one guy but the other one could not confirm this.

Another one was having similar issue and the AMS Hub was changed, after that the problem solved.

Anyhow…

I created a Ticket 1 day ago, keep you informed if I have news.

I am having the same issue here, 2 AMS, everything up to date, can’t change my middle two spools on AMS2 from generic petg to generic pla

I having the same issue. I have a p1S with two AMS. Everything is on the current firmware. Current version of handy and Bambu studio. When I try to change it using the app I just get a text box in the middle of the screen that says fail. Its been drving me crazy. I have tried a factory reset, and re installing both the app and studio

Hi all,
quick update, the response from Bambu support was:

  • Please update log files,

  • As one of my AMS did not show the firmware version on the P1S display, Quote “The other AMS should have some sort of firmware version. Please connect only the one AMS that shows no firmware, and try and update it.”

  • Please open AMS, share Mainboard pictures so the, can look for damage and version.

What can I say, the moment I got the reply I tried to change my Filaments manually and it is now working again. And I do not know why… The only thing I recall, in the morning hours I reboot my P1S (what I already did several times) and tested it with the same failure message. And suddenly in the evening same day it just started working again.

I mean, I am happy it works again, but left with some ‘insecure feeling’…

I cross my fingers for all of you…

My response was that it’s a firmware update issue and to patiently await the next update.

I figured it out in my case. Out of frustration i decided to power cycle the machine, no change, then I navigated the menu on my P1S and noticed that the SDCard was in ‘Error’ state. I ejected the sd card and reinserted it, then it showed the size available. I was then able to change my filament settings. So just a guess that this ams info is stored on the printers sd card.

“Please open AMS, share Mainboard pictures so the, can look for damage and version.”

Really, Bambu? NOTHING changed but whatever cloud changes you made for the new printers. This appears to be a widespread problem reported here and on reddit at the very least.

P1S + 1 AMS works fine
P1S + 2 AMS does not work. How can I get the printer to “forget” the 2nd AMS? At least I wouldn’t not be dead in the water on my 2nd printer. Just disconnecting the 2nd AMS does not change the issue?

New update that came out today seems to fix it. Give it a try!

What update exactly? The 2.0.2.57 Bambu Studio release on Mac is still broken. Filament changes for 5 seconds and then reverts. The iOS Bambu Handy was updated 4 days ago and is still broken.

Same boat, opened a ticket yesterday, but it has been going on for a week or so. Latest version of firmware on P1S and both AMS … might try disconnecting one AMS when I get home and see how it behaves.

Super frustrating.
