Is there a way to print every single setting for a given print model/material all in one pass that would be more efficient than what currently looks like my only option?
So far it looks like lots of hand copying and then hand pasting. On top of that, the sections on the right side do not look like you can do copy/paste directly
This is what I am looking at.
View all objects settings, here.
Once the table is up, it shows Object settings, here. With nothing selected, you get a table but not everything in the Quality or Strength tabs, as shown here.
Choose CELL and one of the table items on right side, as shown here. In this instance I selected a cell that is contained in Quality.
Here is Strength.
Seems like it is a table of some variety but so far very labor intensive as far a Copy/Paste and OCR.
Is the entire table floating around somewhere and I just haven’t found it.
I’m not sure whether this is a workable option for you, but you can actually export it as a text file. A 3mf file is essentially just a compressed archive - very much like a zip file. You can unzip it with a tool like 7‑Zip.
Inside the archive, you’ll find a file called project_settings.config. You can open it in any text editor, though a code editor makes it much easier to read. From there, you can even compare it with other projects to spot differences or troubleshoot settings more comfortably.
You can do the same with the profiles saved in the slicer by access the configuration folder:
There you’ll find profiles such as “Bambu Lab H2D 0.4 nozzle.json” or even ones you’ve created yourself. By the way, this applies not only to print settings but also to filament settings.
Well thanks for that. I need to look at that in more detail. My cursory look says there is a lot of extra stuff that reflects BL just does a data dump to wherever Studio is installed of everything for every printer they make.
Right now, while not the ideal solution, but I snag a picture of “Strength” for example, run that picture through Acrobat’s OCR tool which fishes out the text and just rebuild it in Excel.
The reason I want to do this is to be able to more efficiently keep track of when I tweak those settings.
Here is a picture but this is very rudimentary. The baseline setting will be in this section and to the right I will replicate the left side but log each change. This is Alpha not Beta
If you want to stick with Excel, it’s possible to import json files via the Data | Get Data | From File | From JSON menus. You can then manipulate it using the PowerQuery functionality to filter/restructure/delete data and have the end result appear as an Excel table. Depending on how deep down the Excel/PowerQuery rabbit hole you want to go, you could have it automatically update the table everytime you dump a new json file(s) into a target folder.
Alternatively, you could [vibe]code something that just pulled out the key:value pairs you’re interested in from json files and have that restrcture it however you want.
I think I have not asked my question correctly. This is a Copy/Paste text object question, not a copy .json data question. Trying to emulate the appearance of Studio pages as a means to track my custom changes to optimize filaments that are not printing well or may be a different maufacturers version of a given plastic that might have additives the BL filament may not have. Bambu Labs ABS “secret blend” may be different that Proto-Pasta’s ABS blend.
For ease of description I will use my printer and all filament is Bambu Labs filaments on Bambu Labs spools which have RFID chips. I may leave out steps but broadly speaking, the way I perceive Studio to work in conjunction with a printer and AMS is as follows:
In Studio you set the following
- I have P1S Printer
- I have a hardened steel .4 mm nozzle in that printer
- I am using the Engineering Plate build plate
In the AMS, the RFID chips have been read and I’m guessing stored in some bucket in Studio
You then execute File------> New Project------>Import .3mf. .stl etc.
You then tell Studio to print the model in ABS, PLA, PETG, lots of options here. This gets even more complicated if you bring other brands into the mix
I want to end up with a long list like this. Here is why. Say I buy a cardboard spool of Proto-Pasta copper infused PLA ,which seems marketed for appearance and not a strength additive. Put a saved BL PLA RFID on an empty BL spool, rewind the filament off the cardboard spool onto the BL spool with the PLA RFID mounted and then chose process setting from the User Presets dropdown shown here. The difference being that should I want to print some Proto-Pasta copper, one click and it is ready to go. the process user preset is configured such that all I need to do is click on the following: 0.20mm Standard @ BBL X1C Proto-Pasta Copper
I’ve already done that for when I use the Support for ABS material highlighted in blue.
As a error prone and very slow typist, I would prefer to be able to just drag across the text, highlight it and do a copy/paste it into Excel for the initial testing.
