Catastrophic Failure - Spaghetti turned Lasagna

Well, Spaghetti detection failed tremendously on my X1c, causing significant damage to my printhead (unsure what else right now) I’ve opened a ticket and now wait … I was using all my normal custom settings for PETG HF (print Slooooow) and for the first time, it just did not stick to my freshly washed smooth pei plate @ 80 degrees

I use the X1c for my small business, have over 1800 hours printing custom parts on it and never had a significant failure like this. Can I ever trust this to run while I’m sleeping again?

I mean, I cannot even get this apart including the cover, so therefore cannot use my backup hotend I have or print at all. I’m Hard Down ! It is like one large mass of molten lava now.

15 hours in since opening ticket, no response or acknowledgement of my issue from Bambu.

My last issue (2 weeks ago) with my AMS required a part be sent to me and it was 7 days from ticket opening to part being delivered to get back up and running.

Running Bambu for my business and the speed of support is an obvious issue for me. I cannot be hard down for a week+ at a time.

I’m in Canada, not exactly the most remote part of the world … but yes far away from China.

I did just buy a P1S to go with my X1C , but starting to feel like all my eggs in one basket might not be the best decision. I dunno

There is a live chat you can find here: Bambu Lab | Support Robot
(there usually is quite a queue)

But judging by the images provided, you gonna have to get a new cover: Front Housing Assembly - X1 Series | Bambu Lab USA Store

And make sure the spare hotend you have includes the fan, header and thermistor. Might be good to get a new spare one too.

Can you provide a picture of the toolhead connector board/toolhead?

Thank you, however not sure I’m tracking .

“I’m” responsible For ordering new parts ? As opposed to warranty ?

Unsure what picture you are asking for exactly. I provided lots of detail in the bambu ticket

I’m unsure if they will provide you with a warranty replacement for such an issue.
(Not saying they won’t.)

But given that you rely on the printer for your business, it might be worth ordering the parts now to get up and running again.

I wanted to see the toolhead inside to help you identify any other potential issue that might need another spare part. Something like a ripped of connector.

Gotcha and thank you! I sure hope 4 months in that warranty has my back. I e been consistently printing the same thing, until this.

If Bambu don’t support business use, they should state that before happily taking my money :moneybag: (maybe I missed the fine print)

Here is the inside of my x1c print head , currently:

I don’t think it has anything todo with business use.
But this usually is a mix of multiple factors, including user behavior, 3rd party filaments (if that’s the case), etc…
But keep us in the loop, would be nice to know what they offer you.

Good thing is that the toolhead looks good. Last thing to check is that the down facing camera is clean and has no filament sticking to it.

A new front housing assembly and a new hotend assembly should do the trick.

Did you try the live chat? They should give you a quicker answer.

the whole reason is when u wash ur plate u should at least put fresh glue on there bcz when u wash it it takes off the sticky stuff

It’s not really needed for most basic filaments. In fact, for PETG, the glue is more of a release agent than its needed to hold the print down.

Adding glue is perfectly fine if you need it. However, if you have to ship the prints, it just adds an extra step of cleaning off the glue residue.

Have you tried a heat gun or hair dryer to soften that filament up? I have had this happen to me, and I was able to soften it up and peel it all off. No permanent damage to print head.

Would say the same, but you can see the front housing has cracked.

okk but I don’t have a 3d printer

24 hours, still no response from Support …

I’ve opened a ticket with Bambu Support, and heard nothing … Does anyone know of another way to get hold of them ??

I sure wouldn’t - and don’t. I also don’t leave the printer running when I’m not home.

You can save the print head but you need a heat gun to soften up the plastic and gently pull it away. There’s small wires in there that might get damaged (if not already) but you can heat-remove-heat-remove, etc.

Also, I run PETG HF for outdoor stuff too and it does like to get sticky when it picks up moisture. If a curl reconnects with the extruder it can do a lava tube of sorts and pump molten plastic back up around and into the extruder.

I also run the smooth PEI plate but use glue stick. That only helps with plate adhesion though. If you’re getting stringing, lifting at corners, and curly extrusions, you may need to dry your filament more thoroughly.

It will be tedious to decase the extruder but you should be able to clean it all up with a bit of work.

Still no response. I’m not a happy customer and really wished I hadn’t bought a second Bambu (P1S) just a couple week ago.

Is their support always this slow ?

Bambu support is not the fastest, but it’s probably slower than normal because of the H2D.

I don’t know any consumer printer company that would normally treat this as a warranty repair, but I’m not saying Bambu won’t for this case, I simply don’t know.

Generally, there’s a reason why the “pro” printers like Raise3d etc cost so much (like 6000 USD for P1 (edit: I meant H2, the raise has 2 toolheads) equivalent), and it’s support and certification they come with.

Bambu support is very slow. It should take a bit.

Meanwhile, use the advice @MZip and @iChris gave you.
