I haven’t been on the forum for a few days and only today I read this thread.
First of all, please accept my condolences. I admire your initiative especially in the face of what happened to you.
I wanted to contribute to this project, but sadly I don’t make things typically for children, like small toys or articulated figures… But reading this thread I saw that small tealight lamps can also be useful - and here I can already offer something from myself :slight_smile: I have a few lanterns that might come in handy soon because they even fit the Easter theme:

It really means a lot.

And honestly… what you shared here is exactly what this project is about.
Not everyone needs to design complex toys – even small things like your tealight lanterns can create warm, real moments for the kids.

I love your designs, especially the bunny and chick lanterns – they fit perfectly, also with Easter coming up :hatching_chick:

If it’s okay for you, I would love to include and print some of your models for the project.

What a great initiative. I have a few fidgets and small figurines on my page. But also perhaps some of the keychains or the signmaker might make for some nice gift. Or a “Mutmacher” ribbon. I have 140 models at the moment on my page, so sure there will be something nice for the kids. You can use them any way you like for this project. No attribution or anything required for this project.

Hi again,

For those who have donated their prints, I’ve been inspired by this post to do something similar in Sydney, Australia. If anyone would be so kind as to donate some prints and some messages for the kids that are staying at one of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network sites, such as Bear Cottage, Westmead Children’s Hospital, or Randwick Children’s Hospital, please let me know, and if I can get enough participants, I’ll start printing some and donate in bulk.

The toys will go towards those who are terminally ill or in intensive care.

In the future, if this project does get big enough I will start one also for the parents when in times of doubt.

If you are looking to get interested, please reply, and I’ll message you my email so we can speak. Justt to note, I will be putting your usernames on the notes with the toys.

Hi,

this is honestly amazing to see.

If something like this starts in Sydney as well, that would mean a lot –
because it shows that the idea can reach beyond one place.

For me, this was always about creating small moments for children in difficult situations –
no matter where.

If you do start something there, I’d really like to stay in touch and see how it develops.

vielen Dank für deine Idee und deinen Input – das weiß ich wirklich zu schätzen.

Grundsätzlich hast du absolut recht, so etwas würde es deutlich einfacher machen.
Allerdings ist das Thema leider etwas komplexer, vor allem aus medizinischer Sicht.

Die Kinder befinden sich während der Behandlung oft in einem Zustand, in dem das Immunsystem stark geschwächt oder teilweise gar nicht vorhanden ist.
Das bedeutet, dass selbst kleinste Verunreinigungen ein Risiko darstellen können.

Deshalb können aktuell nur Dinge verwendet werden, die bestimmten Anforderungen entsprechen.

Gerade bei 3D-Drucken bin ich im Moment noch dabei, einen sicheren Weg zu finden (z. B. Reinigung / Desinfektion), bevor ich externe Drucke annehmen kann.

Ich finde die Idee aber sehr gut und möchte das langfristig auf jeden Fall ermöglichen – nur aktuell möchte ich hier nichts riskieren.

vielen Dank dir – das weiß ich wirklich zu schätzen.

Ich arbeite tatsächlich gerade an genau solchen Themen, um externe Drucke zukünftig möglich zu machen.

Dabei geht es vor allem um die Frage, wie man 3D-Drucke sicher von Keimen befreien kann, ohne dass sich das Material negativ verändert oder beschädigt wird.
Ich teste aktuell verschiedene Ansätze wie Reinigung, Desinfektion und auch andere Verfahren und prüfe dabei, wie sich das auf die Stabilität und Sicherheit der Teile auswirkt.

Das ist leider nicht ganz trivial, da die Drucke aus sehr unterschiedlichen Umgebungen kommen können und die Kinder während der Behandlung ein stark geschwächtes Immunsystem haben.

Deshalb gehe ich das Thema Schritt für Schritt an und versuche, hier eine wirklich sichere Lösung zu finden.

Langfristig möchte ich externe Unterstützung auf jeden Fall ermöglichen – aktuell möchte ich aber noch nichts riskieren.

Hi everyone,

quick update from today.

We printed another batch — small dinos, fidget spinners and clovers, based on the first designs that were kindly allowed to be used.

Seeing these come off the printer and knowing where they will end up… that’s a pretty special feeling.

Over the past days, something shifted.

What started here as a simple question — asking if it would be okay to print models for children — is slowly growing into something much bigger than I expected.

People joined.
Designers shared their work.
Ideas started forming.
Support came in ways I could not have planned.

And step by step, something is taking shape.

Not suddenly.
Not as a big announcement.
But quietly, through everything that is happening here.

And it’s interesting to see how this is no longer just about printing things.

It’s starting to connect people, ideas and possibilities in a way I didn’t expect.

Together with MakerWorld, this is opening a direction that could allow even more creators to become part of this.

Not as a typical competition.

But as something that connects what we create with real moments — moments where a small object can make a difficult day just a little bit easier.

To be honest, I never planned any of this.

This community made it happen.

And it’s something I deeply appreciate.

If you’ve been following along — you’re already part of what this is becoming.

More details will follow soon.

For now, I just wanted to share where things are right now — and say thank you.

It would of course be wonderful if @MakerWorld could help by sending some filament. But as a community, we can also support. I’ve already used some of my own points to send Pascal some fillament, and I’m sure others who are able to contribute could make a real difference as well.

I understand what you mean — and I really appreciate that thought.

But to be honest, this is not really about getting free filament.

What is happening here right now feels very different.

It started with a simple question — if it would be okay to print models for children.
And now, step by step, people are joining, sharing their work, offering help, even thinking about how to support locally.

That’s something I didn’t expect.

It’s not something you can really plan or ask for.
It’s something that grows.

And I think that’s what makes it special.

Let’s see where this goes.
