Christmas Contest- Allowing Hanukkah models?

I seem to recall that the holiday contest last year was more vague in description, but the rules for this year’s contest specify Christmas models only.

I had started designing a few models, including a Hanukkah model, but I am now wondering whether I would be in violation of the contest rules shpuld I submit a Hanukkah model?

My assumption is that other winter holiday models are acceptable. But I wanted to ask opinions on the matter here first. If anyone has anything more concrete about it, I’d love to hear!

My assumption would be it would also count, i’m not sure if MW will actually respond directly but i wouldn’t see any reason to report them

Depends on how popular of a member you are. :eyes:

For instance if you are a high ranking green checkmark user you can have this in the contest. :see_no_evil:

That’s valid. I suppose I could include it.

That sure is an odd inclusion.

He didn’t even try to make it fit… He could have at least called it “Anti-sleigh Armament”.

Maybe an homage to

All I Want for Christmas (Is a Machine Gun)

or

Grandma’s Machine Gun Saved Christmas!

I think there is at least one other.

I would have called it “The Naughty List”

They responded to my ticket request.
In case anyone is curious, other holidays are not valid entries apparently.

Very disappointed in that.

Yeah that doesn’t seem right to me personally but i sadly do not make the rules :frowning:

ask yourself this, would you be ok with someone submitting a Christian or Muslim themed model to a competition centered on a Jewish holiday?

it’s no different to them saying that we couldn’t post Islamic themed models to a competition based on a Jewish religious holiday.

Maybe next year MW can change the contest to December Holidays Contest.

Right, but this doesn’t specify christian christmas themed models does it?

So from looking at the theme of the contest i don’t see why a jewish holiday themed item wouldn’t be allowed, but thats just me i guess

Because Judaism is a separate religion. It has it’s own holidays and doesn’t recognize the Christian ones.

At this point Christmas has stopped being a Christian specific holiday that pretty much everyone celebrates and most of the people who do celebrate don’t actually practice worship of it

And atleast in the UK Christianity has been on a very steady decline and it looks set to be overtaken by “no religion” in the census, its already dropped to under 50% of the population and thats a massive drop compared to just 20 years ago where it was at around 72% of the population

So at this point i would argue that the general meaning of christmas is no longer religious but it has now become just a general holiday

It is not even about religion anymore

Christmas is a defined concept. It has separated from Christianity and become more inclusive, but that doesnt mean that it is a free for all.

If I saw a model of the baby Jesus in the contest, thats fine.

If I saw a model of the prophet muhammad, I would be pretty confused.
