The problem I have with Christmas contest and designs for Christmas now is… Do I have the time to learn the stuff I need in order to be able to turn my wife’s an my ideas into 3D printable items? Fortunately it’s a win-win: either I can do something or I’ll learn a lot in the process of failing

Why did you take my joke out of context and thought insulting my work was a great move?
They really need to just limit entries to 1 per account, maybe even not allow new accounts (minimum 1 month account age or something)
Also point farm stuff like this needs to be looked at too with contests (50 ish likes, 50 ish down, no makes, could be different plates on the same upload but is 5 separate files to max out on points if you wanted the set
Edit: That whole account seems a bit dodgy after looking harder tbh, but that’s for another topic.

Yeah, those numbers seem pretty odd to me, but I guess the MW team would need to look and see if they are valid.

No, that would punish users like most people, who enter multiple things. I entered three things into the Halloween contest, for example. And they weren’t “point farming” uploads. Prohibiting new accounts would also punish valid users who just want to enter a contest.

I know they weren’t point farming, but it completely eradicates people using the optics of the contest for point farming, which happens every contest
It also stops people from having a great contest entry that has some flaws, and instead of updating the original they upload a Ver 2 etc contest entry (technically not allowed as it’s a remix) and direct all the flow from the first with a link to the second, doubling their point gain.
It’s a contest, it’s my belief that you get one entry into the contest and that’s what gets assessed.
it doesn’t stop anyone uploading 3/10/50 things in that period, and we get to decide what’s our final entry before the contest closes. but I think we should only get one entry

Is waiting to join the Christmas contest with a model that isn’t likely to come close to winning even worth it? Based on the 4k+ entries for the Halloween contest would it actually provide that much more exposure?
Honestly, yeah. Contests provide a ton of extra exposure, even if you don’t win. Many, many models do really well in terms of numbers when in contests while not winning and I think it’s because people are more interested in looking for holiday stuff in the holiday contest over searching for it.
Looking through contests shows only new designs, can easily be sorted by downloads/trending, and is promoted on the front page so the exposure is significant

Not “Very soon.” November 19 is not soon. Christmas is already trending big time, and I’d like to start posting, however I also want to enter the contest, so I have to wait. Is it possible to start it early? Thanks
me too, but then I figured: I’m gonna post “small” stuff outside contest and put big project in the contest. Best of both worlds… Now to come up with small and big stuff…
