Chrome and Firefox browser plugin for makers

I do not, sorry.
(25 chars)

I used to before I got ill and had to shut down my company.

You would have taken the code you already have then pasted it into a ready-created project and compiled it.

MWPointTracker is now available on the Chrome Web store (a better description is pending).

I have just installed it from the Store after removing the manual unpacked version.

It works perfectly.

Excellent. Thank you for trying it out!

I have been since you released it, it is a great tool I use every time I refresh the page.

Full disclosure, I am also testing another one.

Hehe that’s quite ok. I’m not jealous. My extension has a very narrow focus and scope (which is why I personally like it), but I realize someone else might prefer more features and more of a focus on earned points.

I do like yours. It is fast and gives me a decent amount of information.

I wish MW gave the true value for downloads & prints when they exceed 1k. The counts become generic and I prefer details.

I inspected the page to see if they hid or encoded it elsewhere and I had no luck.

The actual count is returned by their API (you can see it in the responses in the network tab), but they round numbers over 1k when they render the page. I’m reluctant to issue requests to an unpublished, private API from a 3rd party extension, so I rather live with the rounded values. I’ll revisit if MW makes the API available for public consumption.

Nice to know. I didn’t go to that level. I was hoping they used it in an attribute.

The polling idea has some merit, but, I am also concerned about the issues you detailed. Plus one more…

I am coming up on 500 models, that would take a huge amount of time to poll and would be something MW would see as an issue.

I remember a thread a while back about a library that polled the server they needed to cap access to. I know the developer there worked with BL to make it better, more work than needed for this though.

There would have to be some real intelligence to the polling or all 500~ models would trigger a call simultaneously.

Do you have plans to make this plug-in work with the collection pages?

I think there is some benefit in seeing the ā€˜dashboard’ when I focus on each of my sub-types of models.

I’ll look into it. Not sure I can though because the collection page doesn’t show prints, but only downloads. It could also potentially mix objects from multiple users…
I’ll take a look tonight after work.

You are correct, I don’t know how I failed to realise that.

Feel free to ignore the request, I do not think the information is readily available.

Kind of an odd thing though. Did MW at one point not distinguish between downloads and prints? Almost seems like someone forgot to update the collections page.

The layout is also slightly different as the main pages have boxes around each model, but the collection pages do not.

The collection pages also have the avatar and designer name shown, possibly why there was limited space remaining.

This might be due to the original expected use of the collections; individual users would curate and collate models they found interesting, likely grouping them in themes.

I tend to use private collections for this purpose, for my benefit, so I can review them later and print them, sometimes many times.

I use the public collections to list my models in groupings to make it easier to show related models. The product pages do not have any advanced content options like common content shared amongst multiple models to make updating related information easier as you do it once.

This is getting off-topic though.

just installed it, I got both running i assume red numbers under the ā€œPā€ means you are a bout to reach a milestone, correct?

Yes, if you hold the mouse over the progress bar you should see the ā€˜total/reward threshold’ values.

New formatting in the MW site borked the plugin. I posted a new update to the Chrome plugin store (and github).
New version is up:

Hi Contributing_Factor

Could it be posible to add an EDGE compatible version?

I really hate the count roundings about 1000 to 1K. Can your extension show the real numbers?

Chrome extenstions are compatible with Edge.
You can install them in Edge right from the Chrome Web Store.
