Hi,
I’m getting a lot of waste and filament garbage behind this wall. Not sure why, but sometimes waste is falling from the bed into there, even when I pickup the plate to take out a print.
Any idea how to clean there ? it’s inaccessible.
Welcome to the community.
Unfortunately there is no “simple” way to clean behind the wall completely. One has to remove the rear panel to gain access. I wish Bambu had used thumbscrews to make maintenance easier, but sadly, the did not.
I’m sure many may chime in with suggestions such as various vacuum cleaner attachments and such. They work for me but I found that even though I can’t see any debris through the slot you have circled. When I remove the back cover it becomes a whole different story.
Fortunately, Bambu does have an outstanding Wiki which will quickly help you identify which screws should be removed and which one’s shouldn’t.
For the X1
For the P1
You may want to avoid the inevitable annoyance of losing screws and buying replacements ahead of time. I keep mine taped inside a ziploc bad inside printer so I don’t misplace them.
If you look on the Bambu Store, I believe there is a “kit” which offers all the most common screws. I couldn’t find it right away but these two links to individual screws can get you started.
Most waste I can pull out something long and thin, like a pencil or screwdriver. A vacuum hose with a crevice tool also works well. If you don’t let it build up, waste seldom moves far from the opening. The only moving parts behind the wall are the Z screw and the bed cable. Sometimes scraps can get caught at the base of the screw and cause issues with bed movement, but if you keep that clear the waste does not cause a problem. Worst case, the back can come off, but I’ve never found that to be necessary for cleaning.
Wow, thanks a lot ! actually even though it’s really pain to do it , it can be done I guess, it’s only 10 screws, so once in a while to take out all the weird pieces that are piled up there over time in a session of printer maintenance it may be ok.
I don’t make my Printables collections public but I guess in this case it makes sense. If you are like me and you want to mitigate dust and filament debris from as many places as possible. Here is a collection of snap-in covers that I use on my printer. I’ve tested all of these and they do help mitigate accumulation in areas one might not have even thought of like the small area between the build plate and the lead screws.

Edit: One caveat. If you do print any of these, use a temp-tolerant filament that is anything else but PLA as PLA will warp over time in the warmer locations. I use PETG but I suppose even flexible TPU would work well too although I haven’t tried it.
The wiki shows the panel removal procedure differently on a couple different topics. I found there are actually a few more than ten screws, and there are several different sizes, lengths, and types of screws. I use the instructions from the heat bed replacement procedure.
To be sure I get the screws back exactly where they came from, I printed out the picture from the wiki, glued it to cardboard and poked holes at the screw locations. Each screw goes into the appropriate hole when I remove it. Save the cardboard, you will use it again, someday.
Wow ! crazy ! thanks a million.
You do like your printer to be clean don’t you ?
As much as I am
