Clog Issue On-Going

Trying to un-clog the nozzle. The hot hex method didn’t fully work. So I inserted a heated pin in the high end (not the nozzle end). It was removed but there still is some filament in there. I tried putting a pin in the nozzle end but the opening I guess is clogged.

What is the diameter of the tool that comes with? I don’t have it.

Anyway, should I get a long pin and stick down the non-nozzle end?

Do they sell the nozzle unit?

I have never had much luck with the cleaning needles (usually sold per nozzle diameter).
What usually works for me is to do a hex key cold pull, then heat the nozzle back up to above melting temp, insert more filament, let the nozzle cool to 80-100°C, pull the filament (hex key merhod if the filament breaks) and repeat a couple of times.
But sometimes, nozzles are just done. In the shop, look for “hotends”. These days, I always have a spare .4 around.

You mean u have an extra full unit with the nozzle, or just the nozzle and u know how to connect it to the Bambu nozzle unit? Just wondering i they have 1 to ship me.

Btw, plugging the 2 wires from the nozzle to the printer is not easy. :wink:

I have several “complete hotends” since removing the thermistor from a nozzle can be a bit tricky with my fat fingers. I did pre-assemble them from a set of hotends, heaters and thermistors though.

And yes, I also struggle with the wires as each time I change the nozzle I am worried about bending pins. By now however, I have had a bit of practice. Normal nozzle changes, clogs, bent nozzles,… It is just a part of the hobby. Fortunately, a rare part though :wink:

I can’t get the 2 plugs plugged in. Should they just slide in easily?

Well, not easily. You’ll need about the same amount of force as unplugging required. Make sure your connector is sligned and the right side in.

Yes, I meant the needle that I think came with the printer, which I don’t have. The HEX key pulled some filament out, but because the diameter of the hex key is too big,so filament was left inside.

I wondered if I can use a long needle instead, for the hex key method. Put the long needle in, heat the filament, cool, then pull the needle out. But will try to do the filament procedure and see.

Yes. I’d use the most likely filament to the one causing the blockage, PLA for PLA, PETG for PETG,…

Do you mean the unclogging needles? They are slightly below the nozzle diameter. So for a .4 nozzle you want to use a (nominally) .4 unclogging needle.
Or are you referring to the 1.5mm hex key?

When I used the key method, only some filament came out. But because the hex is too wide, I wondered if I got a long needle I could do the hex method but with the needle. I don’t have that needle so I need something quite thin and didn’t know the dimension to look for.

First I will do the manual feed method and hope that does it.

There should have been 3 hex key’s and a needle in the printers accessory. At least that is the case for the X1. The smallest hex key is the 1.5mm.
With the hex key method, it is important to have sufficient filament around the clog/in the nozzle, have the hex key sink well into the nozzle and let it cool to ~100°C. Doing it two or three times always worked for me.
Also, with the X1, there’s a spare hotend included. Not sure about the P1 unfortunately.
