BambuSlicer tells me to cold pull before every load and unload of TPU. I have never done this. Is it an unnecessary precaution, or have I just been lucky?
It’s a good precaution. I have only done a handful of TPU prints, but each time I do a cold pull afterward and inevitably get some leftover schmutz. Usually two pulls is enough to get the last of it out.
So what do you do? Remove the tubing from the top of the print head, heat it up, stick in some PLA, and let it cool down a bit before pulling it out?

I kept ignoring this and had no problem with either TPU for AMS or softer TPUs fed externally (including very soft TPU from Siraya Tech fed straight to the extruder). If the extruder would clog up I would have to unclog it anyhow. TPU prints are normally followed by PLA or PETG prints right away.
