Collections to display own models

could we please have collections to coherently group our own models?
I have many that go under a few different cathegories. someone who printed a model of mine might be interested in that specific theme and not others, but if they visit my page, they will find all my models just listed there without being able to sort them in any way.
and there are other users that have WAY more models than me!
having collections like these would be a great help for everybody I think.

(note: I know I could fake it by using the common collections, but that’s not a real solution)

With the current system you can pin collections to show at the top of your profile. If you only add your own models to the collection then it accomplishes what you described.

sorry but, you quoted my message to suggesting exactly what I said it’s not a solution?

did you read what I said? I know that I can do that, but that’s not a solution.

the current collections are meant to be used to collect models of other creators, not yours. and I know you can pin them in your page.
but why should I use those collections for what they are not meant to?
if I did what you suggest, I would have those collections with my models among all the other collection used to collect other creators’ models.

please, while I’m grateful for every suggestion, try reading what someone writes before answering. thank you!

Not if you create collections ONLY with your own models - that’s the solution. I also have many models from other creators in different collections, but my own models are in SEPARATE collections (they are pinned and others can easily find them).

Not true. You can add whatever you want to your collections, even only your own models. I will even say more, you can mark other collections as private and then they will be hidden, while your own will still be visible in your profile.

Oh I just clicked on the link @PrinterMcgee posted and it was also your thread from over a month ago. I think everything has already been said, people have given you good solutions but I guess you don’t want to use them, so there’s nothing else we can do.

I did read what you said, and exactly what you asked for is already possible. I linked to where it had already been explained to you before. Did you read the responses?

No, you wouldn’t. YOU control what is in the collections and YOU control if they are pinned on your profile. You can put any model you wish, yours or otherwise, and make that collection private, or leave it public and don’t pin it.

@Crow_ck has explained this to you, twice now I believe.

I don’t know if we are speaking two different languages or if you don’t know how makerworld works…

  • collections exists? yes, but they are collections for models you find around makerworld.
  • can you use create a collection of your own models? yes, but then you will have collections of your own models among the collections of models made by other people
  • is it a workaround to the problem I posted about? yes, a workaround. you would use it not as intended. I don’t want to go through collections of my own models every time I need to save a model made by someone else…

please, again, as much as I cherish all the help people is nice enough to provide here, if you are only here just to argue or provide the wrong answer, PLEASE, avoid answering. thank you

I, and everyone else who has read your multiple threads about this, have a great understanding about how MW works.

Right now you have NO collections pinned on your profile page. If you divided your models up in to collections and pinned those collections, that is all that would show on your profile page, unless someone intentionally clicked the “collections” tab. If you made them private they wouldn’t even show on the collections tab.

This is a user to user forum… and many users have told you twice how the system works. Are you looking for Bambu to duplicate a currently existing function and make it MORE restrictive than the current version of the function? That’s what you’re asking for, the current system without the ability to add other people’s models.

May I ask how you would have them work?

  1. Where do you expect them to be found?
  2. What is different from your need from the one already provided?

The reason for the confusion is that you have described the existing collections without stating why those do not work or what could be improved.

As you appear to know already:

  1. You want collections

We already have collections you can group your models in.

  1. You want to be able to place a model in one or more categories.

We already have this ability.

  1. You want people to be able to see how you organised your modes within your collections.

Add a link to your model pages to either your collection link, not your full models list.

You could also provide the related collection links rather than your model page.

  1. You believe others with larger collections may also share your problem.

I have around 850 models; the collections work OK, not great, but better than nothing.

  1. You have not suggested improvements.

This is what people are having a problem with: how to help someone who wants better, but doesn’t share what doesn’t work or suggestions to improve it based on your thoughts.

If you asked me how to improve things, I would make a change to the model page.

I would include a section where we can add a selection of my models that I believe are directly related to the one shown.

I think part of the problem here is that OP wants a solution that doesn’t exist. Maybe OP needs to be petitioning Bambu directly?

Everyone here has been trying to help by providing a solution that works within the current system, and I think OP is kind of annoying people because it’s that flat out rejection. so like, okay, either you reject our advice and go be miserable while you wait for Bambu to maybe some day update things the way you’d like, or you can take the advice given and do a work around that may not get you there fully, but is better than nothing.

I have two sets of collections, more or less. I have a public facing set of collections that is just my designs, and I have a set of private collections that is all the fun things I find and want to print some day.

Like I get the need and want for collections to help organize larger catalogs. I was actually one of the ones that really pressed and advocated that we get these collections. They’re more or less what I originally asked for.

Okay, so maybe it could be refined and we could have a section that’s more specific to organizing one’s larger library. However, the tools are there to get organized in some fashion. You can create the collections how you want, and you can set the collections to private, so your personal collection isn’t there distracting from the collections that organize your work for the users.

There is a solution in there, and it can work.

And to close this out

:notes: You can’t always get what you want!
But if you try sometimes
You just might find
You get what you neeeeeeeeed :notes:

Basically things aren’t always going to be exactly the way you want them, but there is a system there that can handle the base needs. You just need to be flexible and work with it.

I think part of the problem here is that OP wants a solution that doesn’t exist. Maybe OP
needs to be petitioning Bambu directly?

that’s EXACTLY what I said in my first post, but I guess everybody ignored that

Everyone here has been trying to help by providing a solution that works within the
current system,

I have said multiple times, again and again that I’m grateful with everybody trying to help, but that wasn’t what I was asking. I don’t know how to make it more clear.

and I think OP is kind of annoying people because it’s that flat out rejection. so like,
okay, either you reject our advice and go be miserable

thank you for judging me like that, but again I clearly stated I wasn’t asking for a solution, but just exposing something I think it’s lacking (which you just confirmed) and the need to add it, cos every other solution is an annoying workaround.

what I see is a bunch of people trying to help with a solution I didn’t ask, I again said I was grateful for trying, but, to avoid you to waste your time, telling everybody that’s not a solution, that I’ve already thought about it and and that I’m just exposing as a problem.
if everybody here can’t take rejection, maybe they should come down from their high horse and accept that it’s not what I was asking for.
if that’s so triggering and you all want to be considered saint, I’ll get on my knees and bow to your greatness, maybe that will make you happy?

I tried explaining multiple times that what is getting suggested is I already something I know, but that’s not what I consider a solution. even more after having multiple times tried workaround for feature that was lacking, and I having to go back on my steps after BL fixed it.

again, thank you all for trying to help, but that’s not what I consider a solution.
if all you want is to argue, again, I’m not here for that, you can avoid wasting more of your time keep repeating what I’ve already said it’s not what I’m looking for.

cheers

You are confusing the frustration people are having with you NOT SAYING what it is you want with anger.

As I asked previously, you have not responded.

What doesn’t the current collection solution do that you are seeking?

If it has nothing to do with collections, what are you seeking?

I cannot stress this enough: you can’t ask for help (which you did), not provide anything to help us help you and then get annoyed when we ask you for context.

It doesn’t help us, and it certainly doesn’t help you.

If you want things to change, share what the change is.

This wasn’t added as a feature request, and it didn’t include any requested features.

Stop getting angry with us and give us the context you have repeatedly chosen not to.

Everything you’ve asked for is currently possible except for the sorting. Are you asking for ways to sort items in a collection? What ways do you want to sort them?

I think I understand your frustration more now. You currently have 2,770 other creators models sorted in to 66 collections. You have to understand this isn’t a problem a lot of people are going to have. Also, as mentioned above, Bambu doesn’t really spend a lot of time on this forum so they may never see this. You can add the feature request tag and hope for the best I guess?

You came onto a forum with a community of people that like to help and be supportive, or to help find solutions, and then you get mad at them for doing just that.

Most of the people that come on this forum are looking for help. While this forum may be hosted by Bambu, they aren’t that actively involved. It’s the community here that largely tries to help people and find solutions for their needs.

dude, you need to get off your high horse.

 You done with your tantrum yet? Or did you want to kick your feet about a little more?

No.

Let’s just draft a little example on how we could potentially address this without insulting the regulars or getting mad at people for trying to help.

I appreciate the efforts, but unfortunately these solutions don’t really get me where I need to be. I think ultimately to make it work best for my needs, there needs to be some changes on how the site functions and handles collections. I bet some of these changes could benefit a lot of people, not just me.

I think it’d be ideal if the collections were split into two, essentially. One set of collections where we organize our own work, and one set of collections used for collecting and organizing everything on the site.

It’d be awesome. Like we’ve got the list view for everything, but an organized view could be really helpful too, especially for those that have a ton of models, like myself.

I could private my collections, which would help focus the view towards collections that feature only my models. Problem is, I don’t want to private them. The other issue I see is that most people don’t just pop over to the collections view. It would be nice to have an organized view for our models that is just… right there. Easily accessible, easily clickable.

Boom! We’ve got some thoughts to get people rolling while keeping the focus on our ideal dream of how it could be, while letting people know we appreciate their help, but what we’re focused on is discussing how things could be improved, and hopefully catching the attention of Bambu while we’re doing it.

Probably something like this, where we have an organized collection/group/tab within the 3d models tab. That way it’s obvious that it’s about our stuff. I don’t think most people would pop over to the collections tab, so this would make it a little more up front and clear to people just browsing. Anyway, this is just a quick brain storm session

guys really… the passive-aggressive energy from you all is pretty scary here.
get a grip please and find peace in your life.
sorry if I don’t answer to all of you one by one, but really, this turned into a pissing contest that you can keep having among yourselves

As soon as someone tried to answer, you immediately had a go at them.

It’s not a pissing contest. You angered a bunch of people trying to help, and now you are reaping what you’ve sown

MakerWorld currently doesn’t have what you want, Put in a suggestion to Makerworld about what you want and they’ll respond when they see fit.

Pro tip: if they don’t immediately give you want, try not to respond like a brat

yep. as I said, pissing contest. pathetic.
I guess you can continue by yourselves, have fun!
