Coloring whole print but color doesn't change & it creates purge tower

As you can see in the image, I have selected the whole model, pressed 2 to color it with my red PLA filament, but the model remains grey (PETG) and for some reason a purge tower is generated. The other side of the model is also entirely grey, there is not one single red pixel on the entire thing.

What’s happening?

That is a bit weird. Does it also act in this way if you right click your object and then select “Change filament”?
And which Studio version are you using? The latest release or the 2.2 Beta?

If you delete all the other filaments beside the red PLA does the model change to red and tower go away?

I have come across this on a few occasions and while I’m certainly no g-code or 3d modeling expert I started trying different things to get rid of the extra colour like you are experiencing. In the end I right clicked the model and selected “fix model”. So far in every instance of this problem this has worked for me.

You have painted the model (or someone has), tis is likely overriding your filament colour choice.

There is a painted icon to the right of your model. As it also says "Parametric Model Maker for the object, chances are that tool did the painting.

  • Use the paint tool from the toolbar.
  • Select the *Erase all painting" button
  • Return back the the build plates (exit painting)

Your colour choice should now be respected.

That is an odd problem.

Are you able to upload the .3mf file as this will help in figuring out what the issue is.

It usually means the infil/or some part is remaining its original colour
just delete the icon next to the object to reset it

It isn’t odd, I explained the problem and solution.

It is an odd problem due to the different ways objects can be manipulated to add / edit colours
colour set by object (blue) then painted (red)

Same object this time i left on the supports
