I’d like to see more colours available when selecting the display colour of the filament in the AMS unit. I currently have bright gold, yellow, silver and clear transparent loaded up and there isn’t much choice in the colour palette to make it obvious what colour is in which AMS slot when working remotely. I wouldn’t think it would be that hard to put in a colour picker or allow us to type in the RGB colour that we would like.
I don’t think it’s that simple in the current state
Their auto-refill system currently works by manufacturer, type and colour. If you now make the colour completely freely selectable, it will no longer work - or they would have to change this system too
*as they should. Especially the binding of the colour is sometimes a real pain.
Yeah, that could use a rethink too.
Why not make it that the user selects the spool to be used if another runs out? As long as it’s the same material, it shouldn’t matter. If the colour is critical, the user should have enough sense to make sure there’s enough on the roll for the job, and if there isn’t, have the same material and colour on a second roll in another slot, ready to switch to.
Back on the topic of more colours to select from, the reason I brought it up was I was asked to print some stuff while I was at work and couldn’t remember which was yellow and which was bright gold. Ended up printing the job in the wrong colour. The camera in the remote viewer doesn’t make it easy to see the colour sometimes. This morning, I printed some box lids and thought they were printing in a light green colour. The only reason I didn’t stop the print was that I knew I don’t have anything like that colour.
What I do now is take a pic of the AMS any time I change a spool. That way I just scroll back on my phone to the last pic of the AMS and I can see what I loaded.
