Complete Offline Printing

I have a P1S and although I’ve read everything you’re saying I do not understand what your problem is. Do you mean that printer and PC are on 2 different 2.4G networks because if they are, yes the only option is through cloud or may be (I did not test it), connect at least once to cloud to get your PIN code. If they are on the same network, you can do everything (but upgrading the printer firmware) on LAN Only mode.

My printer is set for LAN only mode and is so from day 1 and I can print, access my AMS, get video stream all from bambu studio, retrieve the timelapses (trough FTP), access and clean up my SD card (through FTP), do all sort of things (through MQTT commands). Although my network configuation is not straighforward it works. My network is setup as this: my PC is connected directly from my router on 2.4G at 192.168.2.1, my printer in my workshop is connected to a repeater set on 2.4G and on 192.168.2.4 but which transmits same SSID as my router (option of the repeater). Everything works great, I even have a Panda Touch on the same repeater and all functions as if they were on the same network (they are but on different transmitters). Also, I do not bind the printer to the cloud but rather put my wifi credentials on the root of my SD card. And to make it easier for my FTP and MQTT connections, I assigned a fixed IP address to the MAC address of my printer in my router so It can’t change.

I don’t use the PIN code but the access code to bind PC to printer, PIN code is an option of bambu studio but if printer and PC are on the same network, you will see the pinter in bambu studio, click on it and it asks for the access code, not the PIN code.

So again, I don’t know what your problem is.

I’ve tested LAN-only mode on my X1C by blocking the MAC address at my router. I could still print, monitor the print with the camera, and FTP to the card. With X1Plus, I can also SSH into the printer, and access the command line console. All without cloud access.

Since I’ve never used an MAC address block at the router, I wondered if maybe there could be some way around the block. To be sure there was no cloud access, I unplugged the router from my cable modem. Printer still works just fine without internet access.

Internet access is only required for firmware updates and Handy (Edit) and changing printer names.

Thank you very much for clarifying the use of pin code vs access code. This is exactly what I was missing. My current configuration is using a single wifi router that has no WAN cable connected, so no internet access at all. Both PC with Bambu Studio and Printer(using sdcard to configure wifi access) are on the same network. Printer is in lan only mode showing 8 digit access code, but printer does not show up in bambu studio at all. Also made sure the wifi access configuration was not in isolation mode which prevents clients from seeing each other.

For all other responses to my subject, thank you for your input, and I apologize if I am unintentionally spreading false information that was not what I wanted. I really felt I walked through this entire configuration multiple times and those were my results. I am now wondering if the router is the issue. So for now with all the evidence presented I am clearly wrong and this is possible for others. Sorry for being such a pompous ass in my conclusion. I’ll keep working to resolve this with philch’s information being a huge help. Thank you all.

Much respect. Most would just abandon the topic. Few would admit to being mistaken.

I’m sure it will work eventually. Can this be an issue with your bambu studio install? Can you connect to the P1S SD card through FTP?

Below is the site manager panel of filezilla if you have it installed, any other FTP client should work with the below settings. All other filezilla tabs are left as default.

Port is 990 if you need it

Thanks for the kind words, now I see your confusion.

Thank philch! Your input helped me solve the issue. I was able to ping the printer, and using this ftp method I could see it connect and authenticate then it would time out. I started suspecting the wifi signal was too weak. I have multiple access points in my house, and I am able to assign these access points to specific SSID configs. I realized I had the the isolated print network in an access group that had only kitchen access point available. The printer is in the garage, so I needed to add the garage access point to my printer SSID group. I was just barely connecting to the printer, so basic ping and ftp auth were working but all else was timing out. Thanks for your help!

To the forum, thanks for all your input too. This is a great community and I love the response and input even the knocks on the side of my head. For all my bragging about my abilities I now see that I was just an idiot approaching this with too much arrogance to see the details. Love the humbling experience!

Glad you’ve finally achieved your goal of running this printer out of the cloud. I guess the lesson learnt, as it is the case with numerous posts on this board, is not to trust your very first impression and jump the gun, it is sometimes bambu’s fault but not always  Happy printing

Good advice! I was on the defense from all my smart bulbs

Bought the P1S Combo set up was a breeze all except the AMS unit which gives me a filament out message. Read all that I can and watched all the Videos on the subject. Wish I could just plug the thing into my PC no wireless no cloud. I do a lot of prototype work for Inverters spanning several decades. Back in the day we would get software update links via email.

Once the AMS binds then I set up the WLAN mode. So as of today it’s working perfect. I’m staying away from uploading any of my designs. I save a copy to my hard drive with any mods. I do Love the Performance of my P1S it is light years ahead of my Anycubic printers.
