Confession time!

Let’s have some fun today!

What is something you do related to 3D printing that you know you shouldn’t do, but do anyhow?

(Please keep this fun!)

I’ll start.

Sometimes on long prints I like to do 3D printing bansai. You know…trim the trees. While the print is still happening.

All those filaments that say they are not AMS compatible… F’ it, try to stop me.

I just ignore all the maintenance‑interval notifications and click ‘Of course I’ve oiled all the axles!’ to confirm them. They really do pop up far too often…

As long as I don’t spot any rust and it isn’t squeaking, I figure everything’s perfectly fine - I’m exaggerating, of course.

Its better nowadays, but I used to have to lie to my printers about TPU. Gosh, this “PLA” runs real slow and has such a low plate temp…

Not do maintenance on my P1s… (in the hopes that it breaks sooner, so I can tell the wife we need a new one…)

Problem is the thing just keeps chugging along like a champ, spitting out perfect print after perfect print.

Strangling a TPU knot around extruder gears to make them suffer the same way as I do when this POS PMSM decides to wrap itself around PLA.

Reach in and grab small pieces of poop (dingle berries) that get flung on to the build plates while it is printing.

Watching you guys, doing all those things you say you do, while wondering "why the heck I haven’t thought to do the same ?"

can you give me details on how to do that properly?

i keep on trying without success.

reaching into the printer when filament is on the hotend and risking 3rd degree burns to get it off

Clearly, you’ve not yet mastered the AMS language yet.
The first thing you need to do is to master the language, then train yourself to convincingly lie to your printer, in such way that even you would believe yourself. You’ve got a long way to go, buddy.

I don’t remember when was the last time I cleaned the bottom of the printer, even though I bought a small handheld vac specifically for this task (which would only take a minute to vac them up).

I also can’t remember when was the last time I washed the build plate. I think it was either 2023 or 2024.

Have never used glue, have never dried PLA filaments. But these probably don’t count becuase I never needed to.

I am living true to my motto for 3D printing chores: one less thing, not one more thing.

Side note, the 2nd version of this skull model is much better and uses way less filament. Unfortunately, it takes a couple extra hours. :skull:

I was absolutely certain that I selected that one - but I had to reslice and my computer had restarted and I must have slected the original design accidentally.

F’n microslop and their belligerent restarts.

Hot hex key cold pulls with the X1C… with the wires plugged in to do temp control. Living on the edge

Look for something to 3D print at 2am long after I should have been in bed! :joy:

I have a fan next to my printer and I’m usually too impatient to wait for prints to cool so I hold the print on the build plate in front of the fan to try cool it down quicker

Talking about microslop, I’ve shared a blade cut print profile for stickers/ and or t-shirts (htv)

One thing I really don’t do is drying The PETG filament beforehand.. I only dry it as I print

Haven’t tried that with TPu though :see_no_evil_monkey:

I’m pretty sure most of you do this as well, I order more filament even though I’ve already run out of storage space.
