Consistent Filament Grinding Issues

Hello community,

My X1C has had consistent issues extruding filament for the past month and a half and its driving me nuts. It’s especially important to my workflow as its responsible for the bulk of my printing, which has unfortunately been shifted over to my H2D. Every time I disassemble the extruder its the same issue, time and time again: ground filament. I’ve taken the time to put the list of solutions I’ve tried.

    • List itemCleaned extruder thoroughly several times.
  1. Used different brand filament (Bambu Lab ↔ Polymaker).
  2. Increased Z offset from -0.1 to -0.08 mm (for smooth PEI, -0.1 mm is great. It’s proven to be reliable.)
  3. Smoothened PTFE tube-filament routing.
  4. Switched from 5 kg to 1 kg filament spools.
  5. Used my backup extruder (which had been used before).
  6. Replaced filament extrusion sensor (due to previous one breaking).
  7. Increased nozzle temperatures.
  8. Ran several flow dynamics, machine, and flow ratio calibrations.
  9. Switched hotends several times, including ones that were brand new and used.
  10. Replaced cutter lever and blade.
  11. (Mis)diagnosed extruder motor and replaced it, per official Bambu wiki instructions.

I’ve spent time researching solutions, too; I was not just firing the parts cannon. Probably forgot a few things in my list, too.

Potential solutions I’ve yet to try:

  1. List itemReplacing the PTFE tube that goes into the toolhead. It was replaced at 1,861 h in May of this year and the printer now has 2,829 h on it.
  2. Hooking up one of my AMSs to the X1C. I’ll try that later and update this thread with what that option finds.
  3. Using my brand new textured PEI plate.

Does anyone have more ideas? Cuz this is killing me!

TIA everyone!!!
