Cool plate supertack big lifting problems?

Hi all, I recently got myself a supertack plate as i predominately print with PLA so thought that extra energy saved running the bed cooler would be useful, plus the adhesion sounded really strong.

I’ve used it for a couple of smaller prints which were fine. But last couple of days I’ve been trying to print something that takes nearly the entire bed 200mm x 200mm and is about 4mm tall. The first layers go down amazing, but by the time it gets to the top layers the part has started lifting at the corners even though im using a 5mm brim.

any ideas what’s causing this? Tried with a couple of different filaments and it happened to all of them

Are you running the bed entirely cool? From my experience this works in some cases but not as well on larger parts. Some heat should help avoid the corners lifting. I often run it warm for a few cm, then turn off the heat when the base is stiff enough by itself.

On the larger prints, I run 5-10ºC warmer than the 55ºC that seems to be standard.

Was running it at the standard Bambu Studio settings (45c)

Going to try it with a 55c temp now see if it makes a difference. Be a shame if I need it that high as it completely defeats my goal of saving energy :frowning:

Maybe this is why they released a “Pro” version…

Indeed; might as well use the stick PEI on that case.. (BTW the super tack is clean I suppose?) Touching it can be enough to make it stick less..

Sorry I don’t have any extended experience with large prints. Done a lot of PLA on cold *tack but rarely very big. Good luck!

Yeah the bottom finish on the supertack is really impressive tbf, but one of the things I print constantly is almost embedded into the smooth PEI so it gets a perfect 1st layer every time lol
