about a year ago I bought 4 of these and after a few prints I started to have issues with each of them.
Nearly every print I have with them and the corners left on one or two corners. To get them to work I have to turn off the Auxiliary fan and turn the bed temp up to 55 for PLA. Doing this they corners stick rather well. Has anyone else had issue with corners constantly lifting on PLA on these tacky plates?
Yup, I cleaned them all today with hot soapy water. I had issues shortly after purchasing them. I run 5 printer farm and these were on four of my P1S. I doubt I have over a 100 hours total across all 4 of them. The first few cleanings I used IPA but then I read that it could be bad for it while others reported no issues. I stopped and have not used it since. I just have not had any luck at all with either side of them.
I have almost no issues with my textured plate, but some times I want my prints to have a non texture bottom so that is why I bought them rather than the smooth / textured PEI plates.
I’ve had something similar happen on the textured PEI plate. Have you tried adding a skirt/brim? That’s worked for me on other plates. I’ve had instances where the adhesion has been TOO strong, but interestingly, I haven’t had low adhesion problems on the Cool Plate SuperTack.
I have been using the Super Tack plates almost exclusively for PLA ever since they came out and have never had an issue with them. I don’t clean them any more than to wipe them down with a dry microfiber cloth after every print. I have an X1-Carbon with over 500 hours on it using a Super Tack plate, printing on only one side of the plate. The other side still being unused. The used side has been worn noticeably smoother from all the wipe downs but still works well.
However, when I first got my P1S more than two years ago, I quickly discovered that the auxiliary fan was a problem. Whenever I printed things with a large footprint, there would be tell-tale signs, like the rippling effect across the surface and lifting on the side of the fan. At first I used a deflector with limited success. I though about disconnecting the fan, but since it is used during startup, I figured it must have a useful purpose. So, I began creating custom filament profiles for all the PLA types I use, where I turned off the auxiliary fan. By the way, the standard filament profiles for all non-PLA filaments have the auxiliary fan set to 0.
