I’ve been trying to print this board thing that will act as my Vector Space(For my Anki Vector bot). Things were going well until I realized that I would use 160g of filament for the board. I decreased my infill to 10%, but it didn’t change much.
All of this material usage will probably burn through my bunch of filament quickly. However, I had to make sure not to dig huge holes in this to prevent my bot from getting stuck or thinking that it’s a “cliff“. Any suggestions?
If it doesn’t need to be visually perfect you could try decreasing top and bottom walls. Also try changing the infill pattern to support cubic or even lightning mode (if it doesn’t need to be strong)
166 grams is not that much for a piece taking up most the print bed. You could do a few things though:
Reduce thickness of the piece - even a little can go a long way
Reduce wall layers
Reduce infill further - I often use 5%
Try different infill patterns - surprised how much different patterns can play a role
Useful thing I’ve learned from this: DON’T try to decrease top and bottom walls, or else everything will become this horrible cracked feeling, and it doesn’t decrease a ton a filament use. Anyway, I already got it done, and the model is here:

Curious - Where did you end up on filament usage and what did you do if any to reduce. Glad you were able to get the project done.
I gave up and just used the regular settings. And I tweaked the bottom to 1 layer, which turned out to rip when I was trying to take it off of the bed. So yeah, there is no perfect way to decrease filament usage.
