Is there a way to only define certain locations on a larger piece to be of more infill density than the entire object?
A good example is a hole for a bolt to go through so you do not crush the area around the bolt head, nuts ,washers.
The Infill and wall loops look like all or nothing options in Studio.
This would also come into play if you were using self-tapping (sheet metal, wood) screws.
Right click object
Add modifier
Do a cube, but it can be anything
Position that object overtop the region you want to “enhance”
in the object menu on the left, find your modifier object, then add overriding settings. [infill++ etc]
A note: if you modify walls like this, the slicer will create some ugly boundaries usually where 2 walls transition into 4 walls, etc. So make sure thats all internal or you get visible outlines of your work
Here’s a goose with a solidified neck, as a silly example.
I do this all the time when creating holes for use with nut and bolt fasteners and I want the surrounding area to be more robust. As @bullocks stated above, you can use modifiers. Of course the limitation with repeating walls is that this will only work in the z Axis. Here’s how I do it.
Let’s take this example of a simple cube with a hole. I use a cylinder modifier and select the object and increase the wall count.
Now let’s say I want to do it in the Y or X axis, as if I had to reinforce an angle bracket.
In that case, All I do there is make the modifier in the Z-axis on one object, then rotate it on it’s side and make the next modified in the Z-Axis. Then if need be, once the entire assembly has reinforced walls, I can then rotate it any way I like.
