I got few print profiles deleted because the photo was the “auto generated” by makerworld…
it is kinda annoying that they dont just put a warning and let us fix the profiles. They delete the points and the profile, so you need to dig again on files etc to fix it
What was wrong with the auto-generated one that they didn’t like it as a print profile picture? Isn’t that one usually just the cover of the model that gets carried over if you don’t upload a separate picture?
Yes, now they are deleting profiles with those. If you have some with the “red” graphics, just add another photo of the thing to prevent losing your profile
these topics pop up from time to time, if you search you’ll find more, the short reply is, there is indeed a “warning” · you have to confirm you are following the guidelines to upload a print profile:
But if it auto-generates the photo for the print profile, it just takes your cover image for the model… which should be a print of your model anyways, right? I mean, I have two print profiles for this one…
…where the first is just the cover image of the model and the second one shows the lids on the same model. I made it a separate print profile, so that I can point out the vase mode for the lids to people… rather than messing with per plate or object settings. We’re good with this one, right?
the auto generated picture is not an actual picture of your model that you printed ! you need to include the model picture once you actually printed it in the print profile
if it’s an actual photo of the print, and it matches that specific profile it’s fine, but if you have a different profile you need to replace the picture of that to the actual print that comes out of that profile - as the text says, the photo needs to demonstrate the printability of that specific profile
i would assume the user that opened the thread probably only had a rendering, and that is not a photo of the print.
But before they system used to generate photos of the plates, in red. Now it is not doing that and they are deleting the print profiles + points that had those photos, instead of just adding a warning to add the real photos and not have to dig again looking for the 3mf, etc
I like they are deleting. Far too many people “make” things yet never print anything to show what they made actually works. Fantasy air designing with no real world tangible results I call it.
If bambu here wants a “click to print” ease of use site - they kinda sorta have to make sure everything works so kids can come on and just press send from the app to their parents printers you know?
If untested and it breaks the machine…goes against the entire setup of their “world” you know? So I get it, I like it too.
They should start with the contests - about 500 things to delete right away!
If you take a look at my uploads you’ll see I always snap a pic of the “completed” menu and print while it’s on the bed so to speak and that will always be in the roster of pics uploaded. Nobody told me to do this, I just thought it was logical seeing as they want the send from app stuff and that would be what you see in the app side if you look.
Oh okay… well, that was before my time then. So for new models the ones that the system picks are fine; it’s just that old models might still have actual system-generates pictures of the plate.
I agree a picture of the printed object is important. Also as there a models that are very hard to print and if it was not even possible for the publisher then the other users should not wate time and material on trying to print an item.
Some maker that see this as waste print only at e.g. 50%, sometimes even smaler as you can see the layer lines. That own downloads/prints count I still see as strange, BBL could easily not count them. By the way I had pictures for the model of the real print, but asigned the print plate render as picture for the profile (this does not exist anymore for good reason).
I also agree is good with photos, it just sucks that the profiles are deleted for valid ones. Just leaving them as draft or whatever would be already ok.
And as for the garbage models, yeah it is very bad, on print profiles I assume they printed it. Makerworld needs harder entry rules, review for redemption and user moderation tools. I am up for cleaning it up, I was just reporting the “sucky” way they just deleted some of my profiles, I used their provided render, because it was provided.
I understand , they could just make them not public visible and mark them to point out what is wrong with it. But maybe some would just enable them with the old print plate render.
A prior warning “especially on older uploads” where it was not yet necessary to upload a picture would have been nice. I do understand why they want pictures, but just going for it, ignoring top ratings, positive comments with pictures of successful prints is pretty b*tchi IMO.
Just imagine they tomorrow decide to add, that every print needs to have a video, and you may have 50 uploaded designs. That would be fun! *Irony!
This is exactly the point. If they wanted videos to validate the objects being real would not be a problem, is their platform, but dont delete the profiles and points just because you changed the rules
On top: 2 times I tried to get my designs back by providing more than enough evidence that they were in the wrong and should have never deleted my design - but all for nothing. TBH, I don’t think they even looked at my messages /provided pictures…
