Delivery filament by DPD europe

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if other users are experiencing similar delivery issues with DPD when ordering from Bambu Lab.

I really like ordering directly from Bambu Lab, especially because I sometimes need 10 or 20 rolls of filament at once. The prices are good and I would prefer to keep ordering directly from Bambu Lab.

However, the delivery with DPD has become unreliable for me. This is not just about a delayed parcel or slow tracking updates. In my case, DPD has delivered Bambu Lab parcels to other businesses nearby instead of delivering them to my address.

Those businesses obviously cannot do anything with my parcel. Sometimes they return it to sender, and if I am lucky, they call me so I can come and collect it from them myself.

This creates real problems, because I often have customer deadlines for print jobs. If a filament shipment is delayed, lost, or delivered to the wrong company, I may not be able to finish a customer order on time.

Because of this, I sometimes end up ordering urgently from 3DJake instead. It is usually more expensive, but they also sell Bambu Lab filament and ship with bpost or PostNL, which has been more reliable for me.

I would honestly be willing to pay €10 or more extra per shipment if Bambu Lab offered the option to choose another carrier instead of DPD.

Is anyone else having similar issues with DPD deliveries from Bambu Lab? And would you also be willing to pay extra to choose a different shipping company?

Those are last mille problems. You should talk to DPD about those problems with your package delivery driver.

I did submit an issue with DPD a week ago; they didn’t respond to it yet. If they do, I will place the answer here.

For me actually DPD works fine and I always get delivery at my address, I did have a lot of issues with DHL though (which for me most of the orders come through it) where it would always be left at a pickup point and not my address. I made a formal complaint to DHL and it then greatly improved, it’s only very rarely now that it’s left at the pickup point, it can happen on occasion but not all the time like it used to (guess it’s when there are some issues on their routes and they get very delayed)

I ordered some filaments etc from Bambulab UK last week. They use DPD but for the last year appear to offload to Etarget (also DPD). Todays delivery was delivered via Royal Mail ex Etarget.

Trying to manage costs.?

I guess its a case of pass the parcel.

Have you created a DPD account yet? The easiest thing would be to check if the driver is nearby and speak to them in person. Having an account will make the whole process easier for you.

Unfortunately, they often don’t respond. The drivers are informed, though. However, it takes time because the process involves various departments. Reporting this through your account will direct it more efficiently to the right department.

Believe it or not, the problem actually lies with your nearby company. After all, they’re the ones who accepted the package, so they are fully legally responsible for it. I would have a serious talk with them, since they are required to ensure that you receive your package reliably once they have accepted it. Many people aren’t even aware that they are legally responsible for a package once they have accepted it.

The issue is the delivery driver, sure. Although he’s under a lot of pressure, he’s just glad to get all the packages off his hands. However, the real problem lies with your nearby company! Complaining to DPD won’t help since it’s your nearby company that’s making the mistake by accepting the packages.

Also, if the company accidentally receives the wrong package, they can hand it over to the DPD driver the next day. Then it will be delivered to you. There’s absolutely no need to file a return request. Your next-door company is just completely clueless.

I think the accepting company is DPD; they drive from their depot in Lummen (Belgium). When I do receive my package, they are in a DPD van and wear DPD clothing, so there are no issues to understand who is responsible for my package then. The Vatana (a big shop nearby) looks at the package, finds my phone number, and calls me. This is how that goes: “Hi, we were expecting 12 packages, but we got 15, 3 from other companies, and yours is one of them.“
So I drive 1 km to pick it up, and this is when I am lucky. In the last case, my package was delivered to a food shop, and they saw it was not for them, so they sent it back.
So how could this not be the responsibility of DPD? They just drop off multiple boxes at a company and don’t look at the labels. It is their CORE BUSINESS to deliver correctly.

You don’t have to take my advice, but if the other company was only expecting 12 packages and accepted 15, they are 100% legally responsible for the extra three. Believe it or not, ranting about DPD won’t achieve anything if you don’t understand the problem.

You said it yourself: ‘Don’t look at the labels.’ The problem is that the company is wrongfully accepting your packages. If they don’t accept them, the DPD driver must deliver them to you.

Since it seems you’ve picked up packages from the nearby company many times before, that information is probably still logged in the system, too. My only advice is to check the Terms of Service to see who is responsible. Spoiler: If the nearby company accepts it, then it’s no longer DPD’s.

And as I said before: The nearby company could just hand the package over to the DPD driver the next day - everyone makes mistakes sometimes: Problem solved.

But you’re not going to believe me anyway, so just do your own thing - that’s fine too. :+1:

You didnt read my post!
They drop it on the porch and leave.

In the UK Dpd use location services (gps) to see where and when parcels are dropped of, they also scan the parcel at delivery, they also use live tracking and updates on the dpd site, for customers to use, including email updates from, were expecting, weve got and out for delivery ,(2hr timeframe) you should keep an eye on them, that way any issues can be dealt with by them with a quick call

I did, but whatever floats your boat. :+1:

However they are 2 color uniforms

DPD UK official is red uniform, and has company vehicles

DPD UK local have blue uniform and can use their own vehicles

I have never, ever, ever had a problem wtih DPD red in years of having a mail order company.

I don’t know about the DPD Netherlands, but all my orders from Bambu DE were DHL delivered. On a couple of occasions, my orders were delivered by PostNL, which somehow was a couple of days slower than DHL, but were nevertheless delivered at the right address.
