Depth of Fill tool in Bambu Studio?

Sadly, this doesn’t always work either depending on how you paint

In this example below the white is a separate object, but for some reason the way the interaction occurs with the painted object

I tried swapping the objects around (although I’m fairly confident it processes top down), I tried fill tool, I tried layer tool, I tried filling the icons, I tried swapping the order I do things, but no matter what I try, it seems to eliminate the icons

If I do no painting at all, it slices the icons as expected and and I get the white, but the moment I add paint to that area it seems to get rid of them.
It looks like the paint is applied to the entire group and you don’t seem to be able to change that…

The only way to make that work was to fully invert the painting and paint the bit that you wouldn’t normally paint (i.e. primary colour to secondary colour etc)

The other thing to try would be to make the object the decal color, and then paint the rest the different color. Not sure this would be any better. It seems to be the most ‘useless’ on top layers. Side colors seem to flow pretty deep.

I don’t know if this helps, but I have a lantern that starts out all black, and there are recesses to paint yellow (I have some very translucent yellow I think with show the light quite well, maybe too much. Alas, like you, when I filled the recesses with yellow. The back was still black… so I turned it over, and there were NO segments to paint… so I painted the whole back yellow!!!

I believe the black separators will still block to light where they are supposed to when viewed from the outside.

I turned one of them over so you can better see what I mean. This may or may not solve your immediate problem, but if not, call it another arrow in your quiver.
