I would send this directly to BL, rather than through this forum, but it is honestly just too complex and time consuming to create a suggestion or bug report Ticket via BL.
I have both an H2D and an X1C. When I switch printers in the Prepare tab, I get errors eventually, because I did not ALSO switch in the Device tab. It would be much simpler and less confusing if a change of device in one tab caused a change of device in the other tab.
If I send a print to the H2D with Time Lapse disabled, why do I have to disable Time Lapse AGAIN if I re-print something? Why can’t I just tell the entire system (BS and all printers) that I do not want Time Lapse, and have it stick? It makes no sense to me that BL creates printers to be fast, and then slows them down by default.
They are two different things as they are used for two different use-cases.
You change the printer in the device tab to be able to configure or monitor it.
You change the printer in the prepare tab in the to set up the build plates, nozzle type and more for the project you are creating or have received from someone else.
If you had the device tab swap the printer entry in the prepare tab, that would make changes to the profile based on your printers settings that may now cause issues printing.
I have four P1Ss and one A1 mini, it works fine for me.
When I go to print, I choose my printer there.
If I want my filaments to be synced, I change it in the device tab and manually choose which filament is in my list of choices in the prepare tab.
It is the unforeseen things we look out for.
If this was an option you could set so you get your way and others keep it as designed, that would be fine.
You say “change my printer there”: is “there” the Prepare tab?
When I JUST change my printer in the Prepare tab, at some point on the way to the printer I get an error, because of a mis-match between the Prepare printer and the Device printer.
Just an annoyance, but something that should and could be simplified for the user. Oh, well.
