Hi there, first post, had my machine over a year now, and im trying to design a new control panel for my astro arcade project, I have been able to accomplish my idea but took a lot of messing around and cant help but think there is a better way, I was wondering how others would approach it.
I want to have a thin sheet 2-3mm thick that I can place over the blank control panel, with graphics on it labeling buttons/designs etc. Printed face down, so I can use the lovely textured first layer with different plates.
As I mentioned, I have already accomplished what I want, but seems very hit and miss, and involved tedious work in tinkercad, inkscape and BambuLab. I wish there was a better way to ‘paint’ on the bottom surface, or is there, and I missed it?
I assume your design is essentially the same way a coaster is created.
You have a base part
One or more areas that should be different colours that are on the topmost surface.
Do you have any of this designed?
Painting is not the route to go.
If you look at my design here.
The colours are different parts, when they are combined into a merged model and the different colours matched to filaments available, it becomes the model.
The green is one part, the red another and so on.
If you wish to share the model using DM method, I will take a look. I will not be doing it for you, but I am happy to point you in the right direction.
Hi yes this is the method I wish to learn, does it really consist of breaking it down to seperate models for each colour? ill send you what I have, thanks for reply.
Yes, this is the best variante. I am also doing this a lot.
It’s also easy for all users to select the colors they like, which is quite harder to realize with the painting tool. But don’t forget to merge the parts together and to check the slice.
