During my school education in an higher school for technical engineering we used 5 years Solid Works. Now for personal use I have Fusion 360 (the free version) which is solid for my usage.
I upgraded my Ipad last week and now have some power on it to o some work there too. Does anyone use a good app for ipad?
Have you tried Onshape? It’s browser based and has a similar flow to SolidWorks.

I tried several free/inexpensive CAD programs for personal use before I chose Fusion. I initially rejected Onshape because I did not like that all designs are shared. When my grandson began using Onshape for schoolwork on his iPad, I was enlisted to help and had to take a closer look at the program. I found it very easy to create complex, functional 3D models, and there are many excellent tutorials available on YouTube.
If I ever have to abandon Fusion, Onshape would be my first choice. I’m no longer concerned about the model-sharing aspect. My personal designs are unlikely to interest anyone else and would be difficult to find if they were.
I have had some success using FreeCAD. It is open source, may be not as full featured and sophisticated as a Fusion or AutoCad, but it has helped me out to make thise models that are more technical than organic.
In the end, I use a combination of TinkerCAD, FreeCAD and Blender. One learns as you need to do stuff and some AI consulting helps when you get stuck.
I think I tried Onshape a few years ago on my old Ipad but i will give it a nother try, thanks for that!
I tried FreeCAD also a few years ago on my Windows PC and I don´t like it.
I’ve been 3D printing for over 2 decades as a hobby, not professionally. I used a 3D model program years ago, but can’t find it on the web any more. Seems it was consumed by Autocad!!! They can go to H E double toothpick as far as I’m concerned. The “new” version is useless and so dissimilar to the original, why even bother other than to consume the market and become a monopoly! Some say the market of full of options. I disagree and say the options have thinned unproportionally. I hope your efforts to find an equitable solution pan out. I’ve not yet achieved that goal.
i’d say cad software like plasticity its easy to use
I use CoreShape 3D, it is super cheap and they have a free plan. Its specifically made for 3d printing hobbyist and they allow commercial use. Its so easy to use. coreshape3d. com
