Diagnosing X1C display problems

I’m fixing a friend’s X1C, and there are some problems with the touch screen. There are stripes one half of the screen and some flickering pixels. More importantly, touches register on the wrong location, so making settings is problematic.

The replacement display is $150, so before I buy one, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a way to verify that the problem is actually the display and not something it’s connected to inside the printer.

BTW, the printer is otherwise working pretty well now that I factory reset it.

My first step would be to remove the display to verify that the cable is properly connected.

Yes, I disconnected and reconnected the display already.

If you have access to a second X1C you could try swapping the display to see if the issue follows the display.

Can you post a photo of the failure mode?

I swapped the display, and that fixed the problems. Verified. So I ordered a new one.
