Printer: A1 (owned for ~5 months)
Detailed problem description:
The front of my print head block bracket has a brown/orange discolouration (possibly melting/burned plastic), specifically at the bottom of the section where it meets the hotend heating assembly (see first image). Is this normal, a result of human error, a defect or otherwise concerning? And if any of the latter, what is my best course of action?
For reference, there are no signs of trapped filament in the toolhead, from my limited disassembly and observations of the printer in operation. There is also a little bit of black in the yellow extruder gear (see second image), but I’m not sure if that’s relevant.
Context: during a ~24 hour print over the weekend, I briefly smelt something akin to smoke, but this passed within seconds and I couldn’t confirm the printer as the source. Later into the print (or the following one) I could hear (and see) the hotend scraping against the (gyroid, 10%) infill of the print. The popular fix for scraping - tightening the hotend heating assembly screws - was what led to me discovering the discolouration.
Additional information: since the print with the scraping issue (which I cancelled at that point), the nozzle has begun leaving additional extruded material when a print finishes or stops, which was not an issue previously. Image 3 shows the purge lines since this issue, if relevant.
Slicer settings: at the time of the issue, default 0.08mm profile (except ironing = enabled), using a new 0.4mm nozzle.
Firmware: 1.04.
Filaments used: at the time of the issue, Bambu PLA (white). Overall: Bambu PLA, Bambu PLA Matte, eSun PLA+. All filaments were used with the default filament profiles in BambuStudio.
Environment: cool to room temperature room, with overhead fan on at lowest setting and door open. Room has never felt overly warm while prints are running.
Maintenance history (before issue): just following the prompts whenever they pop up on the A1 screen (i.e. X and Y axis lubrication).
Issues history: 1-2 spool tangles on the AMS Lite (fixed upon occurring).
Edit: I forgot to mention that I performed a calibration (all three checkboxes), and the side issue of over extrusion continued. I think dropping the nozzle temperature 5°C to 215°C may have helped, but only slightly.
