So I will be uploading something that relies on precision. And wondering when you need to make alternate profiles?
Does it matter for catering to different filaments or build plates. This is coming from, if a user want to print using BambuHandy.
I donât use Handy, but from my understanding, users can change filaments, but not build plates.
As soon as thereâs a change to the filament from whatâs in the profile itâs going to the cloud for slicing anyhow, so why wouldnât it be able to handle a build plate change.
(Yes, you can change the build plate)
Making different profiles for different filaments is not only not needed, but also prohibited by the guidelines

However, if you know that some filaments will not give good results, put that warning down in both the description of the model and the description of the print profile to increase the chance that users can see it.

Originally, the cloud slicers were unable to print a model using PETG if the profile was set to PLA.
This is no longer true.
If you set PLA, PETG, or another filament you can choose any other filament in place of it.
There are restrictions where hardware limitations exist, for example engineering filaments on entry level printers.
The type of build plate is equally not fixed in the profile.
There are still two limitations, one real (hardware limitation) and one less so (software can fix it, BL have chosen not to).

The envelope of a model, the space it occupies in X, Y & Z, must be smaller than or exactly equal to the build plate and any non-printable zones.
A model (or multiple parts) that is 150x150x150 will fit on all printers.
A model (or multiple parts) that is 250x250x250 will fit on some printers. The A1 mini, P1 series and X1 series will not be compatible.
You should plan your models so the will fit on the A1 mini or bigger. If you cannot fit everything easily on the A1 mini, make a special profile for the A1 mini and one for everything else.
If your model only fits a printer type and bigger, make it clear in description or risk annoying users.
You can tell Bambu Studio (BS) you have printers that do not exist. You should use this to test profiles on multiple devices for layouts.

If you create a profile that users âprint by objectâ, you have lots to plan.
Firstly, the A series printers have great ply restricted heights compared to the core XY printers, this is due to the way the head and bed interact during movements. Having multiple printers in BS, Will help you see this.
The automatic slicing for other printers fails to work as you would expect here as the envelope rules are ignored (because it was easier, I am not kidding, that was their response to my question âWhy?â).
You are also not informed in any meaningful or informational way during upload either.
You will need to produce one profile for the A series or two if your model (or parts) do not fit easily on the A1 mini. Then another for the P1 & X1 series and then another for the larger formats.
This is subject to change as someone might realise it isnât that much different to the envelope solution I gave BL that they now use for the automated compatibility they use for the Print by Layer profiles.
