I noticed a strange effect when printing an object while testing new top surface settings for better surface (using Advanced top surface guide - understand & improve - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld ). Accidently I have set the same settings for an individual object as for Global, but then the print came out really weird, with a very rough feeling surface and “waves” on the surface. I was under the impression that Object-Settings do overwrite global settings, but now I am thinking if they ADD to one another? If I reset the object settings (which are the same as global), the print comes out fine!
My understanding is that the Global settings are the Parent and the Object settings are the Child. Any settings at the global level will apply to every object unless overridden at the object level.
I have not seen the behavior you describe and it doesn’t seem to match the standard behavior. I’m wondering if it might be a big?
It could also be that this is just something I didn’t know about if this situation is an exception to the rule!
As you already wrote, the global settings apply to the entire project and are overwritten by the object settings, but as the name suggests, only for that ONE object. In this project, each object has different settings.
Did you perhaps select the wrong object ? I mean, the project has about 40 objects divided into 12 printer plates.
Furthermore, the creator has already defined their own object settings. As mentioned, different for each object. You can recognize this by the small lock.
I’m sorry, what I meant was “based on this makerworld-project”, but in another one. I just took some settings and changed them like described in the first mentioned project.
If you make changes while in object mode they dont necessarily get set in global mode .
