Does anyone else have consistent issues with the left hotend?

I’ve been printing almost non-stop for a month or so, and every single time there’s an issue, it’s the left hotend. I print with PLA and PETG out of both the left and right hotends, so I don’t think it’s the material or frequency.

Some examples:

  • Clogs
  • Spaghetti
  • Sock coming slightly loose

I really think it’s the sock coming slightly loose that’s causing all the other issues as it starts bumping into the tip of the hotend and messing with the flow. Every once in a while I’ll check, notice it’s loose, and push it back.

I’ve also gone through four (Bambu, not third-party) silicone socks on the left side only because they end up splitting between the two gaps on the bottom.

Is this just me? Am I doing something absurdly simply wrong here?

yes, and in my case is because a little strip of the sock broke. Clogs=no, spaghetti=not really but randombly I get a thread of filament around one of the nozzles

Interesting – this is what I was trying to describe with “they end up splitting between the two gaps on the bottom”!

I wonder what’s causing this split.

I had a A1 and X1C before and I never replaced the socks, so when I saw the H2D breaking them I though thats why they included replacements :joy: but its a mystery.

I have the h2c, arrived just before Christmas and in the time I have it I already had two failures on prints utilising both hotends. Both with Petg. One had significant layer shift and the second got knocked I think. I don’t have usb to record but I got to admit I just ditched printing with two hotends and rely on right hotend swapping. I wish they made printer with only vortek (without the left hotend).

I lost mine completely today.
I found it squeezed in between heated bed and rear fan.

It gets a bit loose from time to time but it hasn’t fallen off so far.

For the other issues you mentioned the left hotend behaves exactly like the right one. Can’t complain.

I have an issue where any filament I load in for the left has about a 10% chance of loading into the hot end as expected. More often than not I come back to the whole filament pushing out over the top of the hot end.

The location of the print head makes a difference on the angle of the filament as it leaves the drive gear and mostly misses the hole into the hot end.

The hot end is not clogged.
The filament(s) are dried.
This happens with multiple different brands.

Filaments that work fine in the right fail on the left.
