Does auto orient supposed to rotate objects in Z axis?

Hello.
I’ve noticed after last update 2.3.0.70 auto orient button rotates objects in Z axis.

I don’t recall it doing it before, at least if the object is already “flat” on the ground.
For example this is initial orientation:

And this is after clicking auto orient button:

A bug?

From the angle of the screenshots you have chosen, it is difficult to see what happened.

Also, the legs appear to have changed shape in the second shot.

Do you have better angled screenshots and more zoomed in?

Only when they dont have a flat surface ?

It simply rotated 45° (well 135° actually) in Z axis:
From this:

To this:

@Neiljt the opposite, it rotates when there is a flat surface and it’s already laying on that flat surface.

mine is laid on the bed flat ( deceptive because its not quite )
i used auto orient on both of the parts shown it lifted the one and rotated the other to its flat side

?

This has been happening for a while now in my experience.

Nothing to worry about.

It’s actually annoying if anything else…

Yeah, I get that.

Mine did this the other day.

It is spelling out a message to me, this is the F.

Just waiting on the U!

Yes, this is a bug, and makes auto orient unusable for me. It affects how the top layer is printed, which is visible. Auto orient should not rotate objects on the Z-axis at all.

Also, OP, when posting images, black filament should NOT be your selection to show what’s going on. Change it to bright orange or green or something, dude.

Yes, I get this a lot and it is annoying. Sometimes it will also send all parts to the right side of the bed instead of the center.
