Don't you just love when a new version of Studio drops

…and breaks core functionality while they strive to add superficial stuff and makerworld bloat.

First issue I had today was bay 3 in my 8 spool AMS array was vacant so Studio shifted all my installed spools up 1. Only way to remedy it was to put a spool in bay 3, reboot the machine, then load up the mobile app to reset.

Second I was trying to print this tonight, simple design, the part on the right I hit lay on face. Went to print, failed. Thought it was a dirty bed. Wiped it all down with soapy water. Printed again. Failed. Wasn’t until I examined the the print in Studio that I realised it’s not even touching the bed.

I get software development is difficult, but cmon, I’ve never known software updates create as many issues as they fix before in my life. These printers are amazing when they work right, but I have to say I’ve wasted more filament with my X1C than I have any other printer I’ve ever owned.

UPDATE: I closed everything down, rebooted my machine, loaded files in fresh and this time lay on face worked, so this must have been some bug that occures under specific circumstances. I don’t recall it ever happening before though hence why I felt the need to moan on here

The first thing I noticed was that when I enabled supports and sliced the item it did not add any supports. the part had a 6.35mm overhang at 90 degrees from the face… I add support enhancer and sliced again. This time I had proper supports. I did not restart BS as I needed to get this part going asap and that was the easiest way at the moment. The supports didn’t come off very clean either so I will have to restart the software when I get the chance and see if that helps.

Honestly I’m sure I will be finding more bugs the more I use it, seems to happen with every release, which is why I felt the need to post this. Stability/reliability is one of the most important factors when it comes to 3D printers and even though Bambu make amazing hardware I have to say their software brings it down. I never have these issues with my Flashforge printer and from what I’ve witnessed in their community, it’s not really a thing with Prusa either.

Like I said in my original post, I’ve wasted so much filament with this printer it’s untrue, whether it be Bambu Studio bugs, print bed issues, or just trying to find the right balance of settings to get a reliable outcome. When you think of how plastic is a nasty substance and as a society we are trying to decrese usage of it, then this isn’t great for the enviroment or my wallet.
