How can i download 3mf files from say Makersworld onto an SD card to be later printed? Right now the A1 Mini doesn’t recognize the files.

If the A1 is not recognizing files, I can understand why you might want to move it onto an SD card for diagnostic purposes but if the file is not recognized by the printer, moving onto the SD card won’t fix a bad file or model.

The simplest of methods is that from your slicer just do file/save-as and select the save location onto your SD card that is plugged into your computer. This is no different than any other file. Then simply plug the SD card into the A1 and ensure that the file is readable.

And alternate approach as @BambuBanker suggests has multiple options. Explore each one for different methods. From the print pulldown menu you have 4 options, the first you’re familiar with and that’s “print Plate” 3 of which are not commonly used.

  1. Export Plate sliced file–This will prompt you for a file location and the output will be a 3MF file. As mentioned above, move it onto your SD card.

  2. Export G-code file–Note that this can be dangerous if you do not know what you’re doing. As an example, if you have an A1 and export an X1 G-Code file, the results can be unpredictable and unlike when you used the slicer itself which will warn you from sending the wrong code to an incompatible printer, printing a G-Code file from an SD card does not offer the same protections although I believe now you will get a warning. That means if the tool head is told to move to a place it shouldn’t it could cause damage.

  3. Send–This is like “print” but it only sends the 3MF and G-Code file to the SD card on the printer forcing you to manually print. This is the same as sending the file via FTP. Then you have to manually go into your printer menu and select the file from the folder to print.

If you’re technically-minded, here is the method using FTP. This works for now but its unclear for how much longer the overlords at Bambu will support this. I couldn’t help notice that the Wiki Page I had bookmarked is not dead. So print this forum post and save it in a safe place because it may not be here tomorrow.
