Silly question.
I started a print on my new H2S but forgot to remove the old bleed line from the previous print from the bed.
By the time I realized it, it was too late, and I couldn’t see what had happened.
The question is:
Does the printer “sense” that there’s already a layer of plastic and deposit a new bleed line over it, or does it “forcefully” press the nozzle onto the old bleed line?
It forcefully prints another one on top of it. It’s all good though, it’ll be fine. Just try to remember for next time.
Been there, done that several times on different build plates with no damage done. Just make sure you don’t let it happen three times in a row, Damage is bound to happen, especially on plates that use glued on layers like Smooth or Glacier types that can peel off. Smooth plates are soft and I am seeing marks left behind when the double OOZE happens.

I’m currently using the Textured PEI plate that comes with the printer.
Those are pretty rugged, takes the nozzle scraping it to damage it, or the wrong use of the bed scraper. The aftermarket plates and the Smooth plate, that I know of use a layer that can be pulled off the steel backing by the print if not done correctly, which means that too many layers of goo for the calibration test can damage them as well, but the Textured plate would probably just knock the pile off.

I have to be honest and say that my main concern isn’t ruining the print plate… (I can easily buy a replacement). My concern is that the nozzle pressure above the old bleed line could somehow cause “abnormal” stress, forcing the print bed downwards, causing damage or problems with the bed leveling routine.
No, it will mess up the calibration though for that print. If there is enough pressure on the old stuff it will get pushed off the plate. The nozzle being as hot as it is will melt the old stuff just enough to meld the new stuff in. In fact, the other day I did the same thing myself, missed taking off the old flow strip. It lifted the old and flowed under it.

The important thing is not to cause any damage… and to think that with the P1S I’d never (in 1,500 hours) had to run two bleed lines one above the other. Maybe because the P1S’s were bigger and longer ![]()
